Purchased this for my younger brother as a solid laptop for him to start Uni with.

This laptop is not cutting edge technology but offers, in my opinion, excellent value for money.

Standard delivery (3-5 working days) is free, as is Click & Collect from a store. You can also earn 638 Nectar points with this purchase.

2% Quidco available also.

Featuring a 2.2GHz Intel Celeron Processor 900, this laptop from Compaq runs fast and with a 2GB memory and 250GB hard drive is powerful too. A 15.6" screen makes viewing downloaded or streamed content comfortable and with up to 9.5 hours of battery life, extended periods away from a mains supply are distinctly possible.
Multimedia features include built-in speakers and microphone, connection options include three USB ports, a memory card slot, and a DVD-ROM player. The operating system is Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and there's a host of pre-loaded trial software.

The battery life sounds fantastic, and it is an excellent price for a good brand.

How good is the processor? Can it run iPlayer HD smoothly?

2GB RAM is a bit low, but you can't have everything.

Good deal I'd say!

I very much doubt the battery life claims are valid - this review of a similar Cq62 model recorded 2 hrs 23 mins of DVD playback - this would give more than three hours normal use which is pretty good still...

I'm not sure how good a brand Compaq is; HP comes bottom of most reliability surveys although HP support is good.

The product description states "Bluray compatible" - but checking the model specs on HPs site it has a Lightscribe DVD writer.

The 2Gb RAM is a single 2Gb card and this with the 64bit Windows 7 makes a memory upgrade cheap and effective.

How good is the processor?

It's the best single core Celeron processor but it looks weak compared to dual core Celerons or cheaper AMD dual core chips. You wouldn't want to pay more for a laptop with this sort of spec.
Is it a singel core ? if yes than cold...
if anyone buying and interested in extended warranty...
it costs £59.99 for extra 2 years and there is discount code available for 5% making £56(-Quidco).
i have CQ071 bought for £370.
