Heat from me OP - it's a decent deal (especially with the six cell battery being bundled in) but the only minor issue I can see is the screen resolution.

Edit - OP note that eBuyer may have the specifications wrong, as according to HP's website it should have a screen resolution of 1024x600 (see below) but this maybe a model revision.

It's not actually - you can install a 2GB DIMM, as this has been seen on other Compaq branded netbooks and appears to be HP sticking to the Microsoft line that a 'Windows XP' netbook can only use 1GB DIMM (it's part of they're licensing agreement).

Edit - Here's a link to the memory upgrade options from Crucial UK, which covers the Compaq Mini 110c series netbook range.

Different model - the one from Carphone Warehouse was a Compaq Mini 110c-1110SA model and came with a three cell battery (didn't have bluetooth either).

Edit - For the difference of £20.00p, your getting with this deal a six cell battery and bluetooth which were NOT included within the previous deal via the Carphone Warehouse.

The only minor outstanding is the screen resolution and where it's actually 1024x600 or not.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

is this better than the dell offer currently on here?

Mmm...I would say yes, as this Compaq Mini 110c will include a larger capacity battery (six cell) and bluetooth with it (the Dell Mini 10v's listed on the Dell UK Outlet are only coming with a three cell battery & unless specifically stated it won't come with bluetooth) - on top of that it's a lot easier to upgrade the RAM and hard disk with this one, when compared to the Dell Mini 10v.

Alternatively the Dell Mini 10v does come with Windows 7 Starter Edition, which is a limited OS when compared to Windows XP Home Edition, but it is the latest release from Microsoft - also the Dell Mini 10v is the most ideal netbook platform (after the Dell Mini 9) for running as a Hacintosh.

Some of the Dell 10v's with Windows 7 starter do come with Bluetooth even though it wasn't listed (mine did).

You can but just bear in mind the cost involved - Windows XP is not going away just yet, so it gives you a lot of time to save up for it but also if you purchase another computer further down the line you'll be able to re-use Windows 7 on it, as long as you remove it from the netbook & restore Windows XP back onto it.

I have Own this one, Nice little machine screen is 1024*600 comes with the Intel GMA 950 Chipshet Graphics which means if you hook it up with an external monitor max resulotion 2048×1536 at 32-bit. I Installed Windows 7 straight after I bought it. Runs very nice even with 1gb of memory. Currently using it as a desktop replacament with my monitor on resolution of 1920×1200.
Now this situation still isn’t ideal for video intensive gaming or enjoying high-definition movies. But from a productivity standpoint, it works extremely well.

As a student:)

Heat Added. £20 extra for 6 cell battery and bluoetooth worth defenetelly.

The physical layout should be the same, so basically you'll have a memory upgrade access panel on the bottom of the netbook - pop that open and you'll be able to replace the single 1GB DIMM without any problems.

Of course the netbook would have to be powered down, disconnected from the mains and the battery removed before attempting to do this work.

Anyone succesfully running hackintosh on this? I've been looking over various forums and people had problems with wifi, but those were old posts so asking for your experience.

As to the Hanspree, more or less the same but hanspree has wireless n which is a good point.

I have but mine is a different model from this one - it's a Compaq Mini 110c-1110SA.

Mine has a RAM access panel at the bottom with two screws in place on it.

I'll have a dig around and see what I can find but it won't be until later on today - the Hanspree Netbook is a clone of the MSI Wind, so it may run Mac OS X better. Only catch is the wireless card bundled with it maybe incompatible with the Mac OS X but you can purchase cheap wireless cards off of the internet.

looks a good deal with the 6 cell, yes you can fit 2gb of memory as scotty says and i have done this myself on a compaq which supposedly had a 1gb memory maximum:whistling:
suspended#28
The six cell does add a big lump at the back (check the ebuyer photos). If 2-3 hours is enough you may just want to go with the CFW 3 cell.

If you venture inside it at some point can you take some pics for me. Just want to see if there is any room inside these for me to add a usb wifi adapter so I can replace the mini-pci one with a Broadcom crystal HD card.

I havent noticed that before but it says
FREE CARRY CASE WITH THIS NETBOOK WORTH £9.99!!
Here is the link to the case.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176719

I've looked into hackintoshing it and it looks like wifi is working fine up to 10.5.8 but there are some issues with 10.6.2.

I don't have the exact link on me (using another computer just now) but there was a post over at the HP Mini User Community & Forum, which has digital photos of the internal hardware on the Compaq Mini 110c.
