I am confused about which cpu is in this laptop - it states "Intel HD graphics" which means it must be a Core i3 derived Pentium cpu but these run at clock speeds below 2GHz so its probably a Pentium T4400 with GMA4500 graphics.

I think you're right on the graphics card since it says in the OP it's a Compaq CQ62-235 with T4400 cpu.
[EDIT: I'm a little confused - as I can't find the CQ62-235 for sale - these links are to the CQ62-235SA and show a different keyboard layout...] Here it is at HP (£50 more expensive) http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/homelaptops/product.php?id=WT647EA&experience=direct and a link to the product specification sheet http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c02216478.pdf

HDMI, 7200rpm HDD a decent CPU and it should handle HD video. Seems a good price to me.

Why does she need a laptop? Just asking as with desktop you can easily have a large screen and a proper keyboard and mouse are probably better for the 'elderly'.

I would like to know does this really have hdmi and intel hd graphics?

You should post that as a deal! excellent with 3 year warranty included

Excellent price after quidco which tracks okay. Compared to some of the recent netbook deals this looks a steal.
#22
i3 dedicated graphics, 2.0mp webcam built in, larger HD etc. from Lenovo with £100 redemption until 30/11 kicks this into touch I think. Net price £349.

Plus Compaq are built to last until Wednesday, this Wednesday, not next Wednesday.

That'd be a great deal - I couldn't see it under advanced search - do you have a link? The best I could find was 250Gb 2gb i3 at £379...
#24
Thanks, this looks ideal for my son :D. Seems to be a debate about whether it has a webcam. The description on the website clearly says Cyberlink Youcam. Anybody know for sure cos if it ain't this order is history ??

Had a Compaq CQ71 for over a year. Solid build and excellent performance ;)

I have just bought this 17" Dell for my mother in law - the screen and keyboard are both excellent and I expect she'll use a mouse with it. A bargain for the pric (note Link doesnt work)

So with possible Quidco that's 80 quid difference to this deal! So for people on a budget who can't afford to go that extra £80/150/300 for something "better by paying that bit extra" this is a better deal surely?

Bought a Compaq last year which was a bargain due to the cashback and was very impressed with it (once I put Windows 7 on there).

How about this one : http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/homelaptops/product.php?id=WY989EA&experience=direct

5% off using HPQUIDCO, then a further 8% cashback through Quidco bringing the price down to around £375. Not a bad deal. I've had a similar laptop for over a year and I'm well happy with it. ;)
#28
Please unexpire as back in stock on the Bestbuy website. Topcashback also tracks at 10.1% but takes a few hours to do so.

Managed to bag one for Xmas!

Still can't see where an external webcam is included as Youcam will be a software CD rather than an actual device.

Good deal, just ordered. Hope Topcashback tracks ok.

I ran the crucial memory test, but it couldnt find this model automatically, however when i got it manually, it told me max memory is 4gb (2x2's), this has got 2gb (2x1's) DDR2 6400 800mhz.

also, the laptop looks different to the one on best buys website, its all black, not silver and black, but who cares about that
