I think this is a good spec for the price. Even compared to the handful of laptops recently listed. There's a Toshiba mentioned in the HP550 thread that's getting a lot of interest. This Compaq (when you take into account the discount code and cashback) is just £8 more for a larger HDD (250vs160), more RAM (3gb vs 1gb), Vista Premium vs Basic, full size keyboard with separate number-pad and an HDMI socket.

Edit: Furthermore, HP provide next day delivery which Ebuyer charge £9.99 for. So, that makes this one nearly £3 cheaper than the Tosh.

I was looking at buying a (different) notebook from Laptops Direct, but by the time you added delivery and the surcharge for paying by Mastercard, it makes this laptop even better value.

I've bought this for the in-laws who wanted something basic. It's a really nice laptop for the money and I'm very happy with it. Got delivered next day by courier and was up and running in about 30 mins.

I ordered one for my Mother-in-Law. I got the order in before 1600, but I didn't get confirmation until 1610. I'm trying to work out when it will get delivered as I really need it before Saturday.

The website says orders processed before 1600 will be delivered using nextday, but another section reads like the order is dispatched next day, for next day delivery, i.e. delivery the day after tomorrow.

Can I ask, was yours processed same day and actually delivered the next?

I'm hoping at the very worst, my order will be despatchd tomorrow and delivered Friday.

I read a review of this in What Laptop. Not the most reliable magazine but the performance they got out of it was exceptional - similar to other Dual Core laptops and rather better than other T1600 laptops.

I ordered on the Sunday night at 10pm and it got delivered on the Tuesday morning by Citylink. I put a call in to HP on the monday just to check everything was OK and they advised it would definitely be there next day. Quidco tracked and validated within 24 hours too...

Thanks for the info.

It arrived at 1030 this morning and I'm really pleased with it. Nice size, great screen, well built. Recommended.

Quidco has tracked too.

I still can't understand why this isn't hotter.
