#4
Anyone know any NHS discount codes for PCWORLD?

Just purchased one!
Great buy with 12 months warrenty!
cheapest new pc with this type of spec i have seen in normal retail store is in comet, acer for £429.99

guess I will now have to find something else to do with the vista i ordered the other day lol.

Heat added!
#7
Does anyone know how to find it, if I go through Quidco? Thanks.
#8
The original link seems to include a SESSION ID - ie was part of the personal session experience of that surfer

Suspect you'll find the offer has now gone as the product code 256230 shows up nothing, but I may be wrong on that score.
#9
Excellent price, might get one.

Via Quidco, go to PC World site via Quidco, then click on clearance, then laptops and it's the first one in the list.

EDIT: Changed my mind as 128 MB Intel GMA 950 Shared Graphics isn't great, which is a shame cos the rest of the specs are good.

Great Price ..I hoope it Turns out to be a nice deal ...Voted Hot ..and Bought One

Dont know how to add a link, but this gives the full detail of the spec (off compaq web site)
Looks like it includes a lot more than what is mentioned i.e
Card reader
firewire port
microsoft works 8 etc..
Worth a look!

#16
any other deals like this
#17
There should be more simular deals, but maybe not as good as that, but PC World recently lowered the prices of all reconditioned laptops.
#18
Is there anyway to change the OS on this, never used vista but only heard bad things, i only want to download and browse the net.

was looking at the dell deal on here for 410.00
#19
you just hear bad things from people that fear change and what the hell do you care if you're just surfing the net?
#20
Thanks

Just wondering though is 1GB ram enough for running Vista properly?
#21
Got this one, great deal for £270 delivered

Yeh 1GB is enough... sort of like running xp with 512mb, it works but not as well as it could...
#22
Well just recieved this today, so far seems good, although vista feels annoying for the first time. Also vista seems to use an insane amount of Ram and CPU when not doing much.
#23
received this laptop today. looks very good and is a great deal. giving to my dad and i'm sure he'll be very happy.

Thanks to OP
#24
Received this laptop today! Whooa very impressed from the way it looks....on charge at the mo.
#25
Im still waiting, they have taken the money, but it hasnt even been dispatched!
Not very impressed with PCworld!
#26
Ok, now have switched the laptop on, various keys on the keyboard do not appear to work therefore I have arranged for PC World to collect it to take it away for repair! :-(
#27
Got this laptop, had to ring microsoft to get it reactivted, but all together now thats sorted really happy with it, speed is good for what i use it for and worth trying to get fixed if you have a faulty one sent!
#28
i seem to have a different processor. In system it says Duo Core 2250 which has 2Mb L2 cache rather than 1MB as advertised. have to admit that it runs very fast for the price of ~£260

However, my battery life is pretty pants. only 2H max and only listening to mp3 and surfing net. Anyone knows where to source cheap batteries? on ebay it costs around £30!!!
#29
Just checked mine, duo core 2250 as well.
Not sure where the best place is for battery, pc world have loads but £60+ (6 cell hp ones) I will have a look, let us know if you find any please.
#30
I can't find any info on the intel website about the duo core 2250. Is that definately the name of the processor? I'm still waiting for mine.
#31
using the device manager and system viewer is shows t2250
#32
My one also has T2250, maybe ut was an error on the website.

Luckily have had no major problems so far and seems a good deal
#33
Must admit, pc world do have a good couple of bargins, but you have to look hard, picked up a targus leather case with wireless powerpoint mouse for £20 (best thing was half was not priced and the case on its own was £49.99) just grabed a member of staff and said "come on mate lets scan all of these and see if you got any bargins" he was happy in the end cause he brought one too!
#34
cool seems like we all got a free upgrade to a T2250. i'm loving every bit of this laptop now! only bad point is poor battery performance and super heavy!
#35
I am yet to recieve mine. just rang them, and they are not helping at all. they told me i will just have to wait and they cant give any reason for the delay, or any estimated time of arrival...they have taken the money from my account tho...not looking too good really.
#36
Hi, I just got mine and I'm looking for some advice as to a good graphics card to get for it. I'm looking to spend as little as possible but to play quite new games, such as brian lara cricket 2007. Thanks
#37
Sorry, but for the most part you cannot upgrade the video aspect of a laptop. Most graphics in lower end machines contain integrated graphics i.e. part of the motherboard (planar).

The compaq will take other cpus, increased memory, larger hdds etc. but you are stuck with the 950 intel graphics.

Would newish games work on this laptop? Would more memory help? thanks

So, is there any chance Brian Lara 2007 will work, and if not is their any what way how i can make it work. I know it might not be everyones fav game but I want to be able to play my mate in Oz online.
