Was £18.69 per month.
Now only £13.08 per month.
Saving you £67.34 per year.

£13.08 Per Month
£39.24 per quarter
£156.96 per year

Looking at quidco, looks like you would be able to get £45 back as its a combined policy! (Making it £9.25 a month!)

I was paying £18 for this last year and just got my renewal through at £24 a month. Saw this on their website, phoned up to cancel and they offered to price match.

Looking at British Gas and other site, your going to be paying around the £24 marker for the same policy.

This does involve a £50 excess per call out, but if your boiler blows up or you lose all your electrics, I dont think £50 is a great deal to pay!

Used their services before when we had a leak and when all the electrics in the house went and would certainly recommend them.

"Complete Cover with heating no service"
I think you will find the boiler service is NOT included in this offer as the first line says no in the Summary of cover?

umm, if you have an old boilder then, might want to take out! but they will constantly tell you you need to upgrade, have your radiators flushed etc etc! and charge you.

If you have a new boiler a complete waste of time and money! i have had this before, accepted my cash but didnt pay as my boiler was too old, but did offer 50% off a replacement! (This was actually more expensive than a better boiler from a local firm) NOT VOTED!

Ah thanks Anthony.

Cheap enough to get someone in to service the boiler once a year anyway!

They took 2 weeks to fix my boiler as they couldn't find the parts!!! I could of had them delivered from italy in 2 days!!! BEWARE

Been informed by a number of gas safe registered individuals this is one company to avoid. they're very poor in paying out & repairs are carried out when they feel like it! British Gas (I know they're more expensive) fix the repair within a matter of days, last boiler repair was done within 48hrs. As they say you get what you pay for.

You dont have to pay out, they pay the engineers!

When my electrics went they had an engineer out within 2 hours and the problem solved within an hour, and this was at 2200hrs!

As with everything, you have good and bad reviews. The few times ive had to deal with Homeseve ive never had any issues at all.

As they say you get what you pay for.

Yup, in my case a great service and peace of mind at a super low price :)

Again beware had home serve cover took two weeks for them to come back to replace a pump, which in the mean time I'd replaced. Then wouldn't replace a cylinder under the contract due to a split coil.Again I have changed to British gas bit more expensive but much better value for the service provided.

Sorry but that is just wrong! I had a leak and yes they told me to turn the water off until the arrived. Have a look at the TOC, must have changed since you left.

An emergency is sudden and unforeseen damage to your plumbing, drains, wires or water supply pipe which immediately a) exposes a risk to your health; b) creates a risk of loss or damage to the property; or c) makes the building uninhabitable.
An uncontrollable internal plumbing emergency is where you can’t temporarily stop the incident from causing further immediate internal damage (i.e. by turning the water off or not using the facilities).

Really cant believe how cold this is getting!

powerful_Rogue - you seem to have been very lucky with them. I was recently shopping around for full cover for the electrics, gas, water etc... and compared homeserve, direct line & b gas - also my current insurers as they offer the same type of cover (they too use Homeserve). Turns out B Gas is by far & away the most expensive but they don't have 100's of get-out clauses like Homeserve tend to. Heard too many scare stories from people online & friends/family to warrant going with them!

If people still want to use Homeserve they could try contacting their insurance company & they should be able to tag-on Emergency cover for a very small yearly premium (a lot less than buying direct with Homeserve - but if you claim i don't know if this will affect the rest of your insurance policy however).

Cold from me - sorry OP nothing personal.

Even in the ad on the link it shows this.

'There is a 14 day period when you are not covered, giving you 11.5 months' cover in your 1st year, making the Effective Cost of Cover £13.65 a month.'

So what they're saying is buy some cover but, if anything happens in the first 14 days - tough!

I think i would be better off saving the money incase of a repair then, thanks for all the info!

HS - Dreadful company!

Home Serve = rip off ****!!! Avoid avoid avoid!!! I just called them out for a cooker repair under my home emergency policy on my home insurance, it took them 26 days to tell me they couldn't get the part and that I had to replace the cooker myself! Almost 4 weeks with no cooker (as they had disconnected it due to a small gas leak) only to be told I had to buy a new one! I have taken out Boiler care with British Gas, wouldn't touch Home Serve again with a bargepole!!!

We have/had a couple of policies with them.

First was cover for our power shower. Never made a claim but when the renewal came up I cancelled the policy which lead to numerous phone calls an each time I was asked why I had cancelled. I had to get a bit shirty with the callers as they wouldn't take no for an answer, and I kept telling them not to phone again, but they did.

We also have central heating cover with Homeserve which has been a mixed bag. Just recently our heating went wrong and the guy they sent out didn't even have a bleed key for the radiators, he had to borrow mine. Told me I needed a powerflush at hundred of pounds and I told him I'd think about it. Got a second opinion and it was a blockage which cost £75 to fix, including a complete drain and refil with new rust inhibitor.

And now with my latest problem, first guy comes out to fix, does something which lasts a day and then it goes wrong again (same problem). Thankfully Homeserve gave me a call to see if I was happy with the repair - what good timing and customer service I thought. No. When I said the problem was still there, I got silence and a few "urms" and "errs" and I was told to phone the claim line again. So what was the point of the call to check my problem had been fixed? To try and flog me insurance against a burst pipe outside my house. Cheeky devils - all sales and no customer service.

I know these are sub-contractors coming out to fix the problems but it shows Homeserve place no controls/checks etc over these people doing the work.
