good deal but you can get these along with many others off ebay for cheaper, voted hot though, good if you don't like ebay. :-D

Ebay can be cheaper for unbranded stuff. I'd rather have some Geil/Corsair value/Crucial budget RAM but at least Play will refund/replace it if it goes wrong.

DDR RAM will be going in an older PC anyway. Voted hot.

Not to be mistakned for DDR2 RAM used in modern systems.

I have an older PC in the house that my family use, I use my laptop which I'm on now. How would I find out if this RAM would go in my Mesh PC which is about 4 or 5 years old.

Do I get details from my system settings / hardware (whatever that menu is that gives info about your PC), then look at some list to find out the compatibility? Any help would be great. Its currently running 2 x 256mb RAM, hopefully I can upgrade it to 1,256mb (I think it only has two slots). I'll get one of my friends to help me fit it, he knows a bit more than me.

Is this definitely not high density? Because it doesn't mention the density in the info page.

definately not. some of the samsungs (sounds good, really isnt) you get on ebay can be high density :)

So are those samsungs on ebay not good then? Is high density a good or bad thing?

Could someone tell me if this'll work in my old Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop? I know not of RAM.

I installed a couple of these very sticks last week. Decent enough for an old computer. Just remember it is cheap RAM tho.

And I've seen this posted at least twice before in the last month or so on this forum - just for the heads up cus I can't be bothered to search using their awful search...

edit: I lied - found 'em - one was to get it for £15.79 via PC World which imho wouldn't be strickly to thier price promise as why would PC World sell play.com branded memory? http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/187441/

the other was for £17.09 - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/181442/

oh, and HOT!

EDIT: WAIT. Just realised you said laptop - that changes things. Go here - http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/laptop-memory.htm to find compatable and then searchfor cheapest. Ignore the rest.

This won't but this -->http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/931230/Computer-Memory-1GB-PC2700-DDR-333Mhz-184pin-DIMM/Product.html after a quick search on your spec suggests it would. Can't say that it is the cheapest but £16.99 again seems a pretty decent price.

Two main things to search for with RAM and you should be ok: is the amount of pins is the same (ie 184) and the bandwidth is the same (ie PC2700 in your case). But always buy from a vendor you trust so you can always send it back to them it is wrong. For double check - find the toshiba website and the spec of your PC to check the above and the amount of RAM you motherboard can take (in your case it seems to be 2GB MAX).

Hope that helps.

Thanks. Just ordered 2 so all my systems can now have 2gb memory. Sadly, I bought one just last week for £20. + Heat + Rep.
#12
Buoght some of these last week. Good deal. PC2700 is the same price too.

Great stuff, ordered a stick for the media centre downstairs...cheap as chips(DOH sorry:whistling:) Thanks(heat added)

Can anyone help please? Was looking at these yesterday. Was getting annoyed with my Dell Dimension 1100s speed. Whipped off the side and found the problem. Only 256mb of ram was installed! (It was exceedingly cheap £205 del inc vat with 17" LCD). There is a ProMOS 256Mb DDR-400MHz-CL3 PC3200U. This would be a direct replacement wouldn`t it? And is it worth buying 2? The processor is a Celeron D after all....
Cheers

Yes this would be fine :) You'll notice a world of difference with 1GB, but it's totally upto you if you get 2GB...don't assume it'll double the performance again though...it doesn't work like that :-D

Cheers will get one ordered.

Ah..... HOW MUCH?!? :w00t::x

Looks like great deal. After running crucial scan, I am advised I can increase to 2x1GB DDR2 PC2-6400 or DDR2PC5300. Can I use this PC3200. Also I cannot see any indicator of the pin on mine. Please advise. Thanks

Deal Back on. Ordered quick!
#20
I presume there is no point in putting in more than the recommended RAM limit?
#21

Just to clarify; It won't work because you need DDR2 type memory and the one displayed above is the older DDR type.
