We bought a Kenwood version of this from amazon for about the same price, they really do make good ice cream, just need to make sure you have the freezer space for the bowl. also that it's cold enough in your freezer, e.g. when we thought our freezer was set too cold we raised the temp 1 degree and our ice cream didn't turn out good (runny), we dropped it back to the old setting and the ice cream was fine again. Obviously the bowl wasn't getting cold enough.

FYI: We just use plain milk, best recipe for us has been 50 grams sugar, 70 grams of asda's powdered milk, mixed with 500 ml milk. Add 1 teaspoon of flavouring (dry coffee, vanilla flavouring or strawberry) and you get really nice ice cream.
