Well, it's not a game at all - it's an electronic recipe book.... if that's what you are after then, it's quite good!

There are 250 recipes, and you can search by ingredients, country, length of time to make, ease, etc. It tells you what equipment you will need, and gives you step-by-step instructions on how to make. It shows diagrams, pictures, and sometimes videos. You can get it to go to the next step using voice recognition, but this is a bit hit and miss with me.

I think it's great, but I love these quirky things... and I like cooking too

interactive cook book - tells you what to do via screen and via speech and you can advance by telling it so it doesn't get dirty etc
has pics and videos too

Just got this the other day and I'm quite amused by it. Haven't tried cooking anything from it yet but it's a fantastic idea well executed.
It's got hundreds of recipes that you can sort by type, ingredient or country of origin and it will tell you what ingredients you need and the quantities required for 1, 2, 4 people etc., then it will take you through the recipe step by step - you can either tap the screen or say 'Continue' to advance to the next step, and there are even videos to show you techniques.

Definitely worth a try - it's a great example of how the DS can be used for so much more than gaming.

I think I might get it. Is it just main meal receipes?
#9
What kind of recipes are they, would it be good for someone on a cut?

This is such a great idea, apparently it's huge in Japan.

Does it tell you exactly what items you need (and how much?) that would be so helpful during a shopping trip!
#11
It has a lot of different recipees for other dishes such as a desserts, soups, salads and more. It does have a feature to tell you the quantity of ingredients based on how many people you want to cook for.

It also lets you add a tick next to ingrediants and then they go on a shopping list that can be used during shopping. If anyone has a certain allergy then that ingrediant can be removed. :)

So far I only tried doing california sushi rolls and it came out really well! Also some of the foreign dishes need specialised ingredients which may be make it more expensive.. I say this as someone is saying if it can be used on a tight budget unless I missinterpreted the person that asked.

Ask yourself would you pay this kind of money for a recipe book with at most 250 recipes or is this another rip off, it started off around £34 and has dropped,:? this must tell you something.

It tells you exactly what items you need, and if you change the amount of people you are cooking for, it aters the amounts appropriately (so you don't have to try and work it out)

Lots of the meals are quite extravagent, but there are some cheap and chearful ones in too, like a variation of eggy bread for a dessert.

pretty much irrelevant.
Ive not seen many cookery books which turn the pages themselves, tell you what to do so you dont have to keep looking back so much, supply videos of techniques, calculate quantities, work out shopping lists etc
(or that give a special recipe on your birthday!)
This is currently the 3rd largest ds games ever (biggest outside japan), they have put alot of effort into it and its pretty polished...never seen at £34 either

They reviewed it on Market Kitchen earlier this week. They were very pleased with the Asian dishes less so with the European. The voice commands could so sometimes be a bit glitchy but otherwise they seemed quite impressed with it.
