For those of you who consider Pedestal fans a bit ugly or huge and want to have the slim tower fans - with almost no air or too much noise, i spotted these ones in Wickes over the weekend.

Again, marked as out of stock online, there are 5 in Hayes (Uxbridge) branch, so am sure there are plenty more in other stores (as probably all pushed out from warehouses to stores for quick sale)

Price dropped on 30th June to £7.99

The same fan is retailed at other shops (Next has exactly similar model) for around £20.

The specs are:

Color: white
3 speed settings
Fixed or 90deg oscillating position
Time adjustable up to 2 hours

Bought pedestal fan and tower fan to compare (both £7.99). Got to say that the tower fan is much noisier for use in the bedroom and since it isn't as tall has to be placed on a table. The pedestal also wins out in terms of amount of air blown. Big advantage to the tower is that it has a built in timer. Will probably be keeping both but the pedestal fan seems the better buy based on the ones I've got. Thanks to OP.

Lots in stock at the Hedge End store of the £7.99 tower and pedestal fans.

Worth noting that their chromed pedestal fans are £10 cheaper than the equivalent offerings by B&Q. Prices are £20 for 16" chromed pedestal, or £30 for 16" chromed pedestal with remote control and timer.

We got the £20 chromed pedestal in the end as the build quality appeared to be better than the one with remote (plus we just know the remote would vanish, too many small people in our house).

Edit: After assembly, the £20 chrome fan is flippin' noisy even on the lowest setting - hardly suitable for a bedroom. Thankfully I have a variac and with that on it and the voltage wound right down it produces a pleasant (and silent) breeze, rather than the hurricane the lowest setting produces!
