Can I suggest that folks look at Duckies thread which gives lots of different folks experiences with the various cashback companies?

I'm with coolnewmobiles - have received 2 cheques so far okay but they are taking a very long time to send each cheque.

I received all the cheques for my mobile phone last year. I've took out another contract with them.

I'm looking for a new contract at the moment. Sounds like things have changed a lot in the last year, not many decent deals around with reputable retailers. Anyone got any advice on where to go? Phones4u seem to have some decent deals though, are they any good at paying cashback. Terms look ok there, 60 days to claim (4 claims). Thanks.
These people rip you off by not paying your claim back even if you follow the correct instructions. All 4 websites below belong to the same scammers.

Stear clear from these cowboys!

I lost £420 to them using one of these "deals". I have had many cashback deals before and have never missed a payment as I am very organised. These guys are a complete joke. Pls read the feedback link before buying.
I wouldn't touch this deal, I was lucky, I received all my cash back cheques from Coolnewmobile but on each occasion they took longer and longer to arrive. The words 10 foot and barge pole come to mind....
Tempted by this deal, tried to look on their site to see about porting numbers but couldn't see anything. Does anyone know if they allow number porting form Orange to T-Mobile?

Suggest you read the Coolnewmobile threads on WWW.Moneysupermarket.com and www.moneysavingexpert.com. Main discussions are about how to sue CNM after cashback refused. Avoid like the plague!

yes, 18 month contract, and you should perhaps also look at coolnewmobile cashback reviews online...a lot of it makes for unpleasant reading. COLD.

EDIT: You might want to amend this, or delete it...

If I want to point out that Quidco are not a sure thing then I will - and I did, fullstop.

I have got approx 99% of the money out of quidco and i think most others would agree. So in this case it costs you nothing and you have a 99% chance of getting £60 back.

Now you suggest putting money in a fruit machine. That costs you a pound and you generally have approx 70% chance of getting your pound back. So put £100 in and you should come back with £70 making a loss of £30. How's that for a guarenteed pay-out.

I am sorry if I have misunderstood your remarks to be moaning and trying to make it look like it's a bad deal as the quidco isn't guarenteed. That's they way it looked to me. Your other two suggestions as alternatives were just silly, spend money to get virtually nothing back. Or take a 99% chance on quidco? I assume from your comments that you'd rather play the lottery and fruit machines than use quidco?

Do you use quidco? If not then you're kissing alot of money goodbye!

EDIT - No further discussion on quidco. Will keep on track.
Please keep this on topic :) Thanks. If you want to discuss QuidCo or other cashback sites, please do so in the Miscellaneous forum, where there's already a thread for this.

A little touchy there! You don't work for Quidco or something do you?
Nothing wrong with the alternative at all (in fact it's very nice) but where I was coming from is that Quidco money is not a sure thing.
Are Quidco the ONLY cashback site then... why not just rename the site as hotukquidcodeals since quidco gets a mention in just about every post!
If you want a chance at getting 60 quid then get a lottery ticket.

I don't work for quidco.

Quidco are not the only cashback site but they offer the highest rates, fullstop.

Why would I spend £1 on a lottery ticket to get a chance at £60 when I can spend nothing on a mobile phone contract and get a much better chance (99% compared to like 0.0001% on the lottery) of getting £60 back. And at the same time getting the phone and the contract for a year for free. Does the lottery ticket offer the same?

You're starting to wind me up, if you don't want to buy then don't. It's no skin off my nose. Quidco offers £60, either take it or don't. Don't moan at me because there is a small chance you won't get it. Don't tell me to buy a lottery ticket instead, did you even think that through?
mushyg99
but u sure phones4u will not messup on the terms and conditions

Personally I am happy with the deal that I got and I am on the t&c's that I signed up to. Obviously I am not able to guarentee what Phones4u will do with your t&c's. So long as you keep a copy of what you signed up to then even if they do not agree so long as you have stuck to your t&c's you will win at a small claims court against them. It's unlikely to ever come to that, if they send you the wrong claim form just phone them up, speak to the manager and explain the situation and ask them what they are going to do about it. They answer they should give is that they'll send the correct form out to you. Record the call so that you have it as evidence. If they then don't send you the correct form then you have proof that they should so either phone back again or maybe visit a store and tell them that you are holding them responsible for fixing the problem otherwise you'll be forced to explain to all their customers in the shop what Phones4u have done. That should get them sorting it out pretty quickly. The store won't want you keep coming back and annoying their customers so they'll sort it or kick you out. If they kick you out then they're gonna get a great write up in a newspaper for it!!!

Submitted my 1st cashback claim, have been waiting for ages and then decided to visit the website to see that the company has gone into administration and the likelyhood is that no-one will get their cashback claims honoured.
Gutted.
Do you think that the phone operators will allow the contract to be cut short with this info or are we committed to the full 12 months

I just received a letter form CNM re my first claim. I had sent it in time but forgot to state it was my first claim. they have refused my cashback. Anyone know how to get around this or do i just give it up as ver expensive mistake:-(

Sorry, I'm not sure I can help. I'm due my 3rd bill from Vodaphone shortly, so have yet to submit my first claim.
Where does it say you have to state it's your first claim? and how do you go about this?

Edi, I can live with that, as long as my cashback claims go through over time:roll: Will report back tomorrow, once I have spoken with Vodafone.

Edi, I spoke with Vodafone yesterday and yes as you rightly said, I can revert back to paper bills. A note had been placed on my file, although I will be a lot happier when I've received it.

Basically if I go through online billing again, then you lose the paper option and cannot switch back without going through customer servies. Guess I'll leave it alone.

Another question if I may, If I use extra services outside the Anytime 500 tariff that incur extra charges that appear on my bill, this will not present a problem to the CoolNewMobile cashback claim system will it?

Thanks,

Nige
My O2 contract on my k800i is about to end this month I think, so could I sell the handset with this deal on ebay, and use my current k800 handset instead as O2 give you unbranded phones? I guess the only downside is messing around with settings from O2 to Vodafone

Also I read that sometimes you have to use the handset given, but whether that holds any truth...

Many networks are changing their strategy now, rather than paying huge commisions to the middleman, i.e. carphone, mobileshop etc what they tend to do is when someone tries and cancels after the 12 months they offer incentives to keep them on, for example they will offer 12 months free with inclusive minutes, this is usually done by crediting the customers account upfront by 12 months line rental and then deducting monthly – Many customers will agree to this as it will save them looking for another 12 months free deal and now with the ever increasing cashback doubts
Thanks for the info guys :) No wonder networks play all gimmicks to retain customers.
This is the reply I got from mobileshop when I chased them for my cashback…….

Hi there,
Due to the network changing the terms and conditions as to when they pay the commission to us to enable us to pay the cashback we have had to change the payment date slightly to the 23rd. On that date it will be put back in to your bank account. We do apologise for the delays but we can not prevent the network changing the terms and conditions.
edi
Dont think anyone has an answer for this yet, which is probably the secret of the trade.

I've lost a URL which explained how this worked but in a nutshell the retailers are given a commission (usually £100's) to attract new network customers and they pass along a large chunk (/all) of it in the form of a cashback. They chose to stagger the payments to improve their cashflows.
erm dunno if this helps, but i did a chequeback offer with e2save, i got decent mobile and lost £80, but this was the fault of my own sending a chequeback too late, other than that it was ok...but be very sure not to take out an offer towards the end of the month, as it really complicates things - try to get one on after the 10th and before the 20th of the month to be safe - just my honest advice

I'm not here to defend CNM but claiming 5 /5 cashback successfully cant be a joke (nor luck). Do your bit and on time; you will get your cashback

You have been lucky indeed. My wife had a line through CNM, they only paid once then started making execuses (wrong bill, early claim,...etc). She did everything exactly as mentioned in their terms and conditions but unfortunately, it is impossible to prove which bills have been sent. I would never recommend them or deal with them again.
MrPinchPenny
After 12 months is up would i be able to unlock this phone and change networks?

yes, you can request the network to unlock the hanset. more detail can be found in sim locking policy by ofcom
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/Oftel/publications/mobile/2002/sim1102.htm

voda would charge £19.99.

not sure if it's free after the initial 12mth. (Unlock at any time, but only pay the fee if unlock within first year)

or you can go to a local mobile store to unlock, but not sure this phone can be done, or it might, but at a high price.
After 12 months is up would i be able to unlock this phone and change networks?

A question for Edi - I realise that you cannot port your number through CNM on this deal - could you port your number to this deal through Vodaphone?

The only thing stopping me from taking a contract with CNM is I need to retain my number. Both yourself and Duckmagic seem to singing their praises.

The only folks allowing 'porting' seem to be Buymobilephones.net - but folks seem to be negative towards their reliability.
Ah I thought so - although as I said before someone on this forum said something about 'lying' about the age and they've been successful for a while now.

Seems the minimum characters required for search is 4 which means I can't search 'age' small similar words to find out who it was hehe,.
You need to be 18 to get a contract deal. This is essentially a credit application & requires credit clearance. Falsifying age is not a good idea as this could be revealed in credit check :)

However, I'm not sure about Switch/Solo alternative and its best clarified with CNM over the phone (01270 755322)
Thanks for clearing it up edi - makes everything a lot easier, still, seeing as this is 'free' if you claim right, this is an awesome deal.

btw, I can't find the thread where someone said it, but if your under 18 but have a solo (or switch I forgot), which you need to be 16 to get and u can use online, can you lie about your age as long as you don't go through the company provider (voda, orange, o2, t-mobile, etc) directly and still be able to pay/claim alright?

Sorry for the grammar and all I'm just rushing it while its hot!
cyrus2050 :- It all depends on the date of ur first bill :)

Not sure what you mean by claim date ?

OK, So I have received this phone from them today and I think I'm intelligent enough to keep it and use the cashback but my only question is that I ordered it last Friday (27th), the phone was delivered to me today (1st May) and the letter with it is dated from Saturday 28th.

Which one of these would be the contract start date ? Because as long as I know that I can just basically work from there.
sotomonkey
This company breaks the law, they (last time I checked) charge you £25 if you cancel the order and send the handset back within the distance selling regulations alloted timeframe. Infact worse still, they state you're only entitled to send it back seven days from it being delivered when infact, under your statutory rights, you're entitled to send it back from 7 days after teh day it's delivered.

Any company that operates like this should be avoided.

Misleading info .... No site will allow returns without prior authorisation :)

Before returning your handset, please call Customer Care on 08700 429066 option 4 in order to obtain authorisation and a reference number. You will then be advised of the address to return your handset.

Please note if you return a handset for any reason without obtaining an authorisation code from Mobile Affiliates Customer Care, then a £25.00 administration charge will be applied to your credit / debit card. Where you are returning a 3 phone this is reduced to £12.50. Mobile Affiliates Customer Care can be contacted on 08700 429066 option 4.
While I agree that you must be careful with cashbacks, CoolNewMobile only charges £25 if you do not inform them that you are returning the handset. If you call and tell them you are returning it, then there will be no charge, as per their legal requirements.

Also, I don't think Samsung released a D900 White. And was it 10 months free on a 12 month or 18 month contract. Are you sure you have the right phone sotomonkey?

And no, I don't work for CNM....just a fan of their deals

Thats why theres 12 months free line rental

The N70 isnt really that out-dated, it has better features than a lot of recently released "fashion phones"

Not really one to go for if you wanted a Smart Phone with the latest gadgets though, but then again you wont get those on anything less than a £30 a month contract

Thanks go to harrythedog for pointing out that this is still available!!
i got my order eventually!

at the begining, i wasn't quite impress with the quality of the handset, because the plastic looks cheap. this is probably due to my high expectations.

but after playing with it and downloaded the BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.2 SP2 software, it does everything i wanted it to do and i am very happy.
it's normally take 1working day, max 2 to process your order. so i would phone them to see what it's upto.

When they ask you to send in bill 13 showing 360 days of connection (for the final cashback) shouldn't that be 365 days?

Technically ... yes :)

But CNM's cashback T&C is not based on the bill number but the number of days past connection date. Hence the anomaly...

sassie
think they where referring to the 13th months line rental

You dont have to pay the 13th month line rental ;-)

Since line rental is paid in advance the bill arriving after month 11 (or start of month 12) is the 12th bill. However, some sites inc CoolNewMobile demand a bill showing connection for 360 days (this is silly but is cashback T&C's) which require a 13th bill. If the contract is cancelled at 12th month you wont be getting the 13th bill. Making a chargeable call during a final month will force the network to send a bill just for the call (bill 13).

Sounds confusing but pretty straightforward
