Neil Gaiman adapts his own fantasy novel for this stop-motion animated adventure from the director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas". 11-year old Coraline (Dakota Fanning) must escape an alternate reality where her parents dote on her when this seemingly perfect world starts to turn bad.

From Henry Selick the visionary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and based on Neil Gaiman's best-selling book, comes this spectacular stop-motion animated adventure!

Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate, better, version of her life on the other side. When this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, Coraline must use her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to save her family.

Don't forget this was produced in 3D format and a 3D Blu-ray is also available (albeit at £11 now, was a £10 HUKD) - if only for novelty value!

I decided against getting dressed, putting the cat out, getting my wellies on (snowing), walking outside in the freezing cold, de-icing the car, risking an accident by driving out of our unsalted estate, driving 7 miles to the nearest Sainsburys, finding a car parking space, walking around the store no doubt falling to the temptation to buy several items I don't need, queuing up to pay, and doing all the above again in reverse and instead sat here on my ample **** and hit 'BUY NOW!'

I guess the whole proper shopping thing is lost on me.

Thanks for the heads-up OP. My purchase is in the post - I am here in the warm.

This is doing the rounds as the Odeon Kids film this coming weekend again, incase anyone fancies seeing it on the big screen for the same price (not in 3D though)

Yep, my comment was to be informative, rather than critical.

Some people actually have to go to the supermarket to buy food and other domestic supplies, so if you were in the mood to buy this dvd, you could do so whilst shopping.

Oh, and it's not snowing where I live, although I wouldn't make a special trip to Sainsburys just to buy this dvd either.

This terrified my son aged 8 and didn't finish the film. I thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Watched it on blu ray. I'm not keen on the 3D version as the colours seem drained.
