no but they are 2nd hand. its an old model so i think iontel has stopped producing them which is why other online retailers no longer stock them

Ermmm... What is your point, you thought they would be new at this price. ? They are used on ebay with no warranty... and these come with a year warranty...

e6300 2.8ghz £63.97 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167118 brand new. Or you can just buy any of the cheaper ones and overclock them. I would not risk using a second hand cpu in my system, let alone overclock it.

If this was your kind of budget you would be much better off with

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148715

£46 so only slightly more, higher clock speed and newer technology - plus much better overclocker so all in all a better choice all round.

ebuyer says core 2 duo, core 2 duo inside logo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors the e6300 and e6400 is in that list.

the intel e5200 is intel pentium dual core however, you can still overclock it and it will still be very fast. inside the e5200 is the penyrym 45nm die.

Do you actually have benchmark evidence to back that up? It's just, I'd wager that a 2.6GHz chip built on an updated version of the 2.1GHz part's core and with the same amount of cache and a slightly bigger and more advanced feature set would whup the older chip in pretty much anything.

The current 45nm Pentium Dual Cores are better than many of the older 65nm Core 2 Duos and definitely much better than this which is the one of the weakest retail C2D ever released – Intel Processor Finder.
I bought a Pentium Dual Core E6300 for £56 from Scan this week and have it running at 3.5GHz at stock voltage. It’s very power efficient and cool running and I can easily cool it silently with a stock Intel fan and a £1 Panaflo fan from Scan.
I used to own a C2D E6300 and it doesn’t come close in any way to the PDC E6300.

My bad, didn't realise there was a PDC E6300 with the same model number as the C2d:whistling:

The irony being that it's much better than the C2D version that is being pimped here. :w00t:

nearly -100 degrees haha

The only advantage that I can see to the E6400 over the E5200 is that the older E6400 has VT extensions enabled which might help if you intend to run virtual machines on your PC. If not then go with the newer one.
#19
There is motherboard compatibility to consider when upgrading. The E6400 might well be compatible when the E5200 isn't.

not bad for a 1066 board, but otherwise:

AMD Athlon II 240
or
Intel E5200
