You can't just chuck in a flippant techno-garbage comment like that without explaining what you mean FFS!!!! A LOT of people will have older PC's/laptops that dont even have a USB3 connection on them so you encouraging them to spend more would be pointless!! Moreover, they will be used to USB2 transfer speeds so would not notice a difference and may actually think that there is something wrong with this drive when there is'nt!! :|
You can transfer less than 1TB at a time too, you don't have to fill it all in one go.

In fairness, for an extra few quid if you can get a USB3.0 drive it seems fairly sensible. A lot of the 3.0 drives were coming with PCI cards, even if your laptop doesn't support it, an external drive isn't always used with one machine. Then there's the fact you're futureproofing for your potential upgrades, and that a 3.0 drive is likely to be a newer revision of HDD (including but not limited to improved performance, power efficiency etc - not always the case, but worth noting).
It doesn't, in fairness, seem like a great price for a 1TB 2.0 external drive anyway but the prices on these things do flutter up and down.

Just transfer your porn in smaller chunks. Problem solved.

LOL. Brilliant.
@ Frakison ????? You seem a little excitable. Which bit didn't you like. Happy to explain.
- Essentially USB2 is slow, 1Tb is very large. Result = probable disappointing amount of time to, say back up your home PC or transfer a movie.
A USB3.0 drive is much faster and is backward compatible with those USB 2.0 folks. They they lose nothing but gain extended lifespan and usefulness from their purchase. USB 3.0 was released in 2008 and has been a standard on most PCs and Latops since 2010. The number of people who do not have one of those little blue USB ports is dwindling very fast.

But the time per task will always be longer than necessary.
It will work fine. Have you considered similar models which have Firewire connectors ?
