Voted Hot due to the fact I can't build one with those parts for less:)

But my long running whinge is why do Dell give a top grade processor, and decent memory in their PC's but still supply them such dire Graphics Cards?????:x

You can't even customise this PC with a decent card as an option either:?

With that graphics card, you can't do much more than browse the web with it.

It's a good price, but I can't help but think it's a waste unless it's part of an XPS system.

The 3650 is about on par with a decent 8600GT, so you would be able to play all the latest games on it. Maybee no at highest settings, but they will work.

You can upgrade on the dell site to a 4850, but it would be cheeper to buy your own and fit afterwards.

These are just incredible for video editing. Utterly trounce the current Quad Cores. VERY tempted!
#15
Bargain the i7 mobos alone cost a fortune can't believe dell can sell this at less than £800

Dell can be quick, but it might be a week or more, what with the run up to Christmas...
#20
As far as I can make out, the price even includes a Blu Ray BURNER. Utterly incredible and SO tempting!

Any deals due/worth waiting on?
#21

how did you get the burner inc without editing the system?
#25
Apologies, I did edit me system.

The Blu Ray Burner is standard. Got 6Gb of RAM, 2 x 320Gb drives and an uprated Graphics card with dual DVI, free video camera as well. Talked them down from £765 to £720 inc vat and deliv.
#26
Can you tell me which base you started with? Going to get one. Unreal price this.

Value for money?

It's difficult to ascertain the value-for-money proposition for a non-standard machine. Taking the base £699 system into account and apportioning at least £500 for the CPU/mobo/RAM subsystem, the build-it-yourself price is around £850, and that figure excludes warranty support.

£ 651.94 plus quidco to come. Looked on ebuyer and the RAM is worth £170 alone. http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=2&cat=3&subcat=2677
#28
6 gb ram = £170.00
i7 cpu 920 = £250.00
i7 compatible motherboard = £190.00

£610 for the above alone ...... is this a bargain then or are we just comparing to ridiculous priced components as they are still new to the market ? I cant convince myself either way as yet but I am very very tempted !!
#29
Well, mine arrives tomorrow. Woohoo!

I priced my spec up and it came to over £1200 and thats noy inclusing the hours I'd then spend building it and mutteringly dark curses as I try to find 64 bit drivers! Just a CRAZY good deal.
#30
me too , lol ..... I gave up in the end - the 10% 48hr discount was the deal breaker for me !!

OMG , How much have i just spent , LOL ! .....

Plan is to sell the blu ray dvd writer on ebay for around £135 ish and sell the hd3650 card for around the £25 mark and purchase a 512mb ATI 4850 HD card to replace it for around £95 , I already have a nice arctic 500w psu to replace the stock one too and 2 pioneer dvd writers.

Total cost with the above alterations - £591.00 , a nice little bargain methinks !!

11 seconds from typing in windows password to reading my home page on msn ...... slight improvement on the 80-90 second wait on my previous pc !!

This PC is lightening quick , believe me ..... only gripe is the 12v power connector for the motherboard is a 6-pin rather than a standard 4-pin and not sure yet if i can get an adapter to replace stock psu with my 500w one.
the pc came with a 360w psu btw . no good for me as i intend to upgrade graphics card and 360w may not be enough.
