Stacey, as you seem to have quite a lot of experience about beaches, etc, can you please answer the following question? Possibly looking at going to Malgrat de Mar and will be staying near the Playa de Malgrat Centre beach. One person on a review mentioned that the beach is not sand at all, but made up of shingles, however, on another description it says 'long, golden, sandy beach'. I've looked at photos of the Playa de Malgrat Centre beach on the web and it does look like proper sand. Have you actually been to this area Stacey and if so, can you tell me if it is sand that you can build sandcastles from (my children spend a lot of time on holiday doing this) or not? Last year we went to L'Estartit and the sand was wonderful. Thank you.

hey Sophie, the beaches along here seem to run all the way through the "de Mar" Resorts. We stayed in Santa Susanna and a walk along the beach took us to Malgrat de Mar, you know one of those strolls where you suddenly realise you have hit another place without realising it. It's a couple of years since I last went to that area but there was definitely sand, it is a narrow beach but it just seems to go on for ever from one resort to the next so I am sure there are some parts that are better than others xx
I am struggling to remember now? we have stayed in a few other resorts along that stretch too and don't particuarly remember the beach being disappointing? In fact just looking through some old family pics the little ones are building sand castles xx
