Corsair 16GB GT Rugged, Water & Shock Resistant USB Flash Drive

Laundered, baked, frozen, boiled, dropped, and even run over by a SUV! The Flash Voyager GT stands up to it's reputation as being one of the most rugged flash drives on the market. Waterproof and shock-resistant - What better way store your data?

OP You need to add the retailer and price to the title :)

lol... no deal... I'll keep my post :p

Speedwise, mine is 29.1 and 17.5 for read/write.
#12
Only flash drive I would buy. Great speed too.
#13
been this price for weeks so not new deal. Vote hot because they are a cracking drive.:p
#14
Got one a month ago and I agree thats its super-fast and well worth the money. Nice rugged feel about it too
#15
I have a 1GB one I got 4 years ago and it's still going strong. I still think £1 a GB is a hot price though, this price could be improved soon.

If you pull the rubber back you can see the circuitry.
#17
Bought one of these from Amazon a couple of months ago for ~ £35. This is a very good price for a very, very good flash drive.

Reminds me of the Bionic Man action figure of the 1970s

That's not the same one.

This is the GT version which (I THINK) is faster :)

Looking for a fast 16gb+ drive with good access times to plug into my new car stereo, anyone know if this or the 32gb Transcend Jetflash 600 would be better - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/transcend-ts32gjf600-32gb-jetflash-/794385?page=2

Already got a 4gb version of the Transcend, and it's a great drive, just not big enough unfortunately.

I actually brought one of these in the end >.< and I sincerely regret it. I lost loads of my work due to corruption - I'm pretty **** at the moment. Also the read and write speeds aren't as fast as they claim. I do not recommend buying this product or anything to do with Corsair.

The other equivalent deal had a lot of good info in the comments, but it's been deleted now so I'll just quote some stuff from there:

For those who are interested, some reviews I found: http://forum.notebookreview.com/accessories/366684-corsair-flash-voyager-gt-16gb-usb-2-0-cmfusb2-0-16gbgt-review.html

Write speeds are much slower if it's formatted as NTFS according to user reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Flash-Voyager-Drive-CMFUSB2-0-16GBGT/product-reviews/B00154QAX6/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Another review here: http://www.myce.com/review/Corsair-Flash-Voyager-GT-16GB-USB-Flash-Drive-Review-15085/

The real world tests are probably more useful to know than the rest.

Some more benchmarks from other people I've found:

Sequential Read : 28.669 MB/s
Sequential Write : 16.926 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 28.143 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 2.359 MB/s
Random Read 4KB : 5.674 MB/s
Random Write 4KB : 0.025 MB/s

Test Size : 50 MB
Date : 2009/08/23 21:07:02

Sequential Read: 33.51 MB/sec
Sequential Write: 14.04 MB/sec
512kb Random Read: 33.46 MB/sec
512kb Random Read: 2.59 MB/sec
4kb Random Read: 8.05 MB/sec
4kb Random Write: 0.02 MB/sec

dontasciime
My real world write rate is 18.27 meg a second eg a 512 meg file took 28 seconds to store(stopwatch timed) on 16gig gt as opposed to my 8 gig SLC corsair GT which did it in 22 seconds 23.27 meg a second also s-w-timed

12.1 meg a sercond under ntfs eg 42 seconds for 512 meg file

14.2 meg a second fromatted HFS+ 36 seconds for 512 meg file

Just done a quick Crystal disk mark of this drive (just arrived today) and my results are:

5 x 100MB Sequential - 28.97MB/s Read & 16.58MB/s Write

Not bad, pretty much what I was expecting.

On average, it seems you can expect the Corsair 16GB GT to do about 29MB/s read and 17MB/s write. In comparison the ByteStor 16GB Dataferry seems to do about 25MB/s read and 15MB/s write, which was £14.49 but has now gone back up to £16.99.

Looks like you may have bought a fake....

I bought one from Mymemory a couple of weeks back, I was impressed by the speed and would highly reccomend . The speed of the USB that is , Mymemory stuff always takes about five days to arrive.
#28
think its a good price... but just a warning- it is bulkier than your average and often covers 2 adjacent usb slots rather than the one

CORSAIR ARE THE BEST WHEN ITS COMES TO MEMORY its got a ten year warranty so get your money back if its faulty ,or you dont know how to use one properly? maybe?
