Until early July 20% off all (pilot, energy, 4x4, taxi & van ranges) costco tyres....

All you have to do is purchase at least 4 tyres in one transaction (upto 8 tyres in total)

I just bought 2 x 195 michelin energy tyres for £99 the pair!!!

My old man got 2 x 225 michelin pilots for £189 the pair.

Both very happy campers indeed!!

I realise not everyone can get membership but if you work in certain industries (including the public sector) / own a business you are quids in!

This is a frequent offer but (every few months) but just in case soem are not aware, it certainly makes the membership fee worthwhile!

Pity Michelin no longer make decent 4x4 tyres, like BF Goodrich, or even Pirelli.

I checked at Costco recently and was told they had no demand for off road tyres any longer. So they no longer stock the Synchrone range (which were only an 80% on road, 20% off road tyre anyhow).

Sad that so many 4x4 cars never leave the tarmac really, as there appear to be so many in the UK?

Good hopefully everyone going anti 4x4 will stop single woman driving them on there own around towns holding everyone up :whistling:

I got mine from CostCo in January when they had 25% off.

Got 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - 225/40 R18 92Y for £423.16
They fitted 2 to rears, removed my rears, refilled with Nitrogen and fitted to the front and I have 2 spare tyres in the Garage. When I need them fitting CostCo will do it for free assuming it is with 12 months of purchase date.

Buy all my tyres from them and have done for years, can't find better they were even cheaper than a local distributor who my mate uses who owns his own Garage. Granted not by much but CostCo includes fit and balance.

What's the easiest way to get a Costco card, if you don't run your own business?

Join as an individual member, provided the company you work for is on their list. You can also have a job like teacher, dentist, doctor, accountant etc to be able to qualify as a personal rather than trade member.

In the past I have run a fleet of vehicles. Every vehicle had a log book in it which showed when every tyre, brake pad and exhaust was changed. We recorded the price paid for every tyre etc and therefore were able to work out the cost per mile.

We tried Michelin, Dunlop, Kumo and every other type of tyre and the reslts were that whilst a Kumo may cost half what a Continental cost we never got half of the mileage.

Our results meant that for cost per mile the cheapest tyres were continentals (ECO's). They were prone to a bit of road noise over Michelins and were not quite as grippy but were the best by far. Second were Michelins, better in performance and more grip and a premium of 10% over Contis because they were not as hard.

I have never been able to find Michelin's as cheap as Costco's, even without the sales on.

One aside - These tests were 10-15 years ago so may not be as true today, but I cannot believe that things have changed that much.

If I had a non performance or small car I would buy Contis. My car gets Michelin's every time!

Hope this helps someone.

Costco only sell Michelin (and at the cheapest price) cos they are both owned by the same parent company in US.

btw..costco fills these tyres with Nitrogen gas.....anyone know if it s ok to top them up with oxygen if they need topping up later in time?....any pros or cons about it?

Filling tyres with oxygen would be a very silly thing to do.

I love costco, especially their customer service (bit stroppy in MK branch thou).

You're right - the tyres bloke in MK is a bit stroppy. Don't know why, he just is,.

Not true.

Another happy customer here.
This tire change they noticed a problem with my alloy wheel, which meant extra tire changes for them. I expected to have to pay extra..... but they did it all for the basic price.

I think you misread my post? Off road tyres are required for driving OFF ROAD. :o

I think that if "single Women" are paying up to £410 a year to tax their cars, then they are entitled to drive them on the roads all they like?
Even infront of sexist pigs. :whistling:

Even double that 410 does not mean you own all the roads, so no they shouldn't be entitled to drive them all they like.

Really, because the documents required one website are things like business letterheads, VAT number etc, or are they just more lenient instore?

I guess it depends on the type of membership you apply for.

As mentioned earlier, Costco allow employees of many companies to join provided they show the payslips. You just mention who you work for, and they look it up.

My OH got us cards by taking in work pass that has no mention of the company name on at all and said she worked for a bank. That was it @ Lakeside 3 months ago. And partners get a free card included in the £25 thing too.

Email them for a list and an application form. You can literally join for such varied professions and it;s not like it needs to be organised through your work. I think it was anyone in financial services tbh. They emailed me back in about 10minutes with everything.

This was for a personal card for £25 a year.

I asked the same question when I got mine fitted.

The guy said we recommend ~20% max normal air. Then at earliest opportunity bring the car back to us and we will deflate and refill with Nitrogen as complimentary service.

Didn't know that.
I always get my Michillens from Costco cheapest I've found. Worth the long drive to get them done there (and a bit of shopping too :whistling:).

Also, when I purchased two front ones they rotated the rear tyres at the front and the new tyres at the back. Said it's their policy to do that. :)

Only problem is that I have to order mine as they don't always have them in stock.

I still think it's worth it for the price, and their excellent customer service.

That reminds me... I need to replace them soon

Don't fall for it, regardless of whether it is free or not.
