Love coffee beans but I struggle to use big bags before the taste goes off once they are open. Anyone got any storage tips. I currently put them in a screw top tin for storage.

You can refrigerate or store in a freezer to slow oxidation, but the real solution is to drink more coffee!

do I need a member card? Is there any other way to purchase on the day??

You need a member card, but they can I believe offer a day pass. It isn't difficult to join so long as you either have a business of any kind or work in one of their many professions including the public sector. They're not overly fussy about the details either but there is an annual membership fee.
geeadamg
It's best to buy coffee beans little and often. I know to each their own etc but if it's roasted over a month ago the oils have generally dried up and tastes quite stale. Obviously adding milk or sugar negates that somewhat.
I honestly don't know what roast date will be on the beans so could be recent but it's more the stocking up on them you would have stale beans no matter who well they are packed.

Don't forget that they are hermetically sealed and vacuum packed. They have at least 18 months code, and are still glossy when the packs are opened after 6 months.

Do I have to pay for a Costco membership to purchase This pls ?

When I bought some whiskey I didn't have a card but had to pay a 5% surcharge, but that was still cheaper than paying for a card!

EDIT: Yeah, just had a look for you, you have to either pay £15 for a years membership with them or pay £2 surcharge (5%).

Just go in there and you can sign up
I've been trying for years to "just turn up and join" and it doesn't work. I'm quite happy to pay the membership fee as well but i'm not part of any of the qualifying professions.
You must have been extremely lucky if you just walked in off the street and joined.
Sadly the nearest one to me is in Watford and I don't have a car so unlikely I would go there many times to
make use of the membership. My sis in law does have a card but belongs to one of the professionals in their
list so I just get her to buy bulk ketchup and afew other items for me.
Never been to store and bought membership but I have read people posting here that's what they
did and it worked. I guess depends on the store if they are being strict. But I do know they come to Harrow
and get people to sign up without being the professionals on their list.

Aha, so my point still stands then - you can't just wander in and sign up ;)

I think you'll find that those people who randomly turn up in shopping centres with little costco stands sell costco subscriptions rather than actual membership. If you've got a subscription you can still shop at their website and save on the VAT but it's not a full warehouse membership.

the opening day offers were underwhelming - generally most things there are not bargains; the couple of things I can think of are the bulk food items can be good value (and quality) for entertaining, water softener salt tablets, and then things that are on special offer (e.g. today velvet 40 toilet rolls for £9.60 inc VAT is reasonable)

Of course, the kids had a field-day sampling all the stuff and leaving with a stash of jelly belly in their pockets, and the stuff on the olive counter isn't their standard range but there for a week only and is delicious

Worthwhile joining for the voucher (which had to be done BEFORE today when signing up) as £20 off purchase coupon (still to arrive in the post) for £24 business membership, I'm quids in with just a few bags of dishwasher salt

Yes I shudder to think of the traffic on an event day - it's literally on the doorstep of the stadium

Just go in there and you can sign up. They are desperate for new members. They regularly come to
Harrow 2 shopping centres with half price deals that anyone can join in. This deal is better than that so make the most of it if this is near you.

They do like to portray its an "exclusive club" but in reality it is not as long as you pay membership costs.

For this price, you could travel to Italy, buy a vintage 500, transport it back, buy a fridge and get someone to custom make it for you. Could probably do it in less than 90 days too.
At the end of the day it is a standard drinks fridge with a plastic case around it. There's no way it should cost any more than a standard SMEG.

You just took my post and added a flight to it. They do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so thanks....

good projector
it's been this price off and on for 2 years at least though
when I bought my BenQ W1070 it was between it and the optoma, and I only went BenQ because of past experience and superior reviews. For that reason, I'd recommend going for a W1070 instead.
Since buying one 2 years ago, I sold it and traded up to the HT1085ST (short throw) as I moved into a shoebox, and it's essentially the same projector as the W1070 with a short throw lens, and minus lens shift (sad to lose that).
All in all very happy with the BenQ lineup, but some just prefer optoma.
How does Costco work, don't you need a membership?
I've got one......we have ours for outdoor movie nights......pretty much as everyone else has said....brilliant bit if kit.....soundbar needed for those wanting booming sound.....but if you're after a massive picture this is fantastic....first time we used ours we fired it onto a bed sheet
Great projector. I have mine firing on to a grey wall and it still looks stunning.
Not having a proper lens shift can also be very frustrating as you need to position the projector perfectly. This isn't always possible due to room restrictions. Not such a big issue if you aren't using a screen though. Much harder to notice is the projected image is slanted etc when projecting straight onto a wall. For the money though, it is an amazing projector.

No Apt-X support. So it can't be that good. I'd want Apt-X at this price point (based on it's original selling more, even moreso!).

Bose SOundlink hasn't got Apt-X either and gets better reviews than speakers with Apt-X.
Maybe matters more for headphones where there's no signal processing (the speakers will tweak sound anyway to make up for smaller size)

Makes sense. I don't rate Bose stuff either. :)

It sounds OK-ish (a little dull sounding for my taste). But is WAY over-priced for what it is.

Plus, if you're streaming lossy stuff to it (aka - the vast majority of MP3) then it makes no ends. If you're a FLAC user though, you kind of want Apt-X.

-heater not included, factor around 400-800 quid extra for a heater to heat something that size at around 1.50 a day (heat pump 8kw min)
-solar cover - extra 120 quid, pays for itself due to less heating required
-don't forget the electricians cost of approx. an extra 300 quid to put a suitable spur due to the ampage the heater/pump will require)
-chemicals - cheap and relatively easy - although probably go salt water to mean no/minimum chemicals - a further 500 quid to setup for chlorinator and salt
-pump and filter ones supplied are good for occasional low volume use only, factor approx. 300-600 quid for a decent size pump and separate filter and media
-pool itself will last years and are great fun especially if you have a lot of friends/kids

In short - if you want a paddling pool buy a paddling pool for 30 - 50 quid, if you want a swimming pool, this is your entry point, but to make it fully useable there's a lot more cost involved due to our climate
Is it just me or is that pool just way too full? Id day 3 peoplr can happily play in that... for 400 quid you may as well go the baths a few times and save money. You know for a fact youll use this once or twice then never other with it.
The UK is just not hot enough for this and you'll be constantly faffing around with chemicals just to maintain clean water. Don't do it unless you have a greenhouse big enough to put it in.
Sounds good but it s bigger than my garden. heat added though - hope it helps the ones after warm water :)
It's big no heater tho a friend has it don't get the intex heaters as they are a load of rubbish

I had this laptop last year, don't be fooled by the "NVIDIA GeForce 940M 2GB!" in the title, it is a truly awful GPU and performs worse than my desktop Skylake on-chip GPU.
Hard drive is incredibly slow and the laptop in general doesn't perform the same as it looks on paper with the specs it has. I don't recommend spending £450 on this. If you're going to be buying a laptop, save a little bit more and get a £500-600+ one.
The aesthetics of the laptop is beautiful though, even as a non Star Wars fan.

Exactly the same issues that I had. The HDD was terrible.

Costco – Past and Present

CostcoCostco started off in Seattle, Washington, in 1983 and in 1993, merged with Price Club, the first retail warehouse club to form PriceCostco. In 1997, the enterprise changed its name to the Costco Wholesale Corporation.

Costco's mission is to offer brand name goods at discount prices to small and medium sized businesses, as well as individuals, through a membership model. The organisation currently has almost 700 warehouses around the globe in Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and Spain, as well as the UK and its home country of the United States. Costco currently has 84 million cardholders around the world.

Costco: Storefinder and Online Shop

Costco merchandises its goods via a chain of more than 25 warehouses around the UK and at its online store at www.costco.co.uk. Only members can shop at warehouses. Anyone can buy online but non-members have to pay a surcharge of 5%.

Shoppers wishing to find physical warehouses can find an up-to-date list on their website. Choose a location from a drop down list or enter your postcode and specify the maximum distance in miles that you wish the store to be within (25-100 miles).

Owing to delivery and handling charges, the prices of items sold online may differ from those sold at physical outlets. Moreover, not all of the items offered on the online store are available at local warehouses.

Costco local store

Opening hours at Costco warehouses vary between branches and are longer for trade customers than for individual customers. As a rule, business hours are 10:00 to 20:30 for trade customers, and 12:00 to 20:30 for individual shoppers from Monday to Friday, with shorter hours on the weekends.

Costco Product Range and Top Brands at Their Online Shop

Costco offers a vast assortment of products and their range is constantly changing and expanding. Categories range from garments, all kinds of house and garden items, electronics, white goods, automotive supplies, tyres, clothing, books, foodstuffs, wine, hot tubs, jewellery, 4K TVs, solar panels, office supplies and much more. Prices are kept low via an annual membership fee, basic warehouse setups, and bulk buying.

Bestsellers include Dyson V6 Cordless Vacuum Cleaners, Divine Hot Tubs, Forest Garden Melbury Log Cabins, LG Smart 4K TVs, Keter Factor Sheds, Dormeo Memory Deluxe Mattresses and MacBook Pros.

Costco also has its own private label brand of goods - Kirkland Signature, named after the location of the firm's old headquarter in Washington State. The product line includes signature wines, health, beauty and home products, clothing, garden furniture, confectionery, coffee beans, nutritional supplements, pet foods, mattresses and bedding, and cooking implements.

You will then need to follow this procedure:

  2. Remove the delivery label.
  3. Kerb side deliveries must be made available for kerb side pickup.
  4. Boxed deliveries must be in a box when picked up.
