Got CS already, but been waiting for Garry's mod to be 75% off, you should add the individual prices for each on this thread for extra heat :)

Yeah me too. Is Cs:s really hardcore or can new people still play it?

There's a bot mode for you to get used to the game. Because of it's popularity i'd say there's an even amount of good and bad players in my experience so you can still have fun with it. :)

CSS never seems to come down in price so this is a damn good deal.

And it's just like a military-style run around shooting deathmatch thing, right?

I haven't played it but I have watched many CS videos. When you die you have to wait until the round is over in order to play. I think one team has a bomb to plant and protect, while the other team has to disarm it before it goes off.

Oh really? I'll probably give it a miss then, sounds far to strategic for me and chances are that if I haven't gotten into it yet then I probably won't.

Thanks anyway though, seems like a good price.

I haven't played it for years but it's a great game, you do get just one life per round but it's better that way. Rescuing hostages or planting bombs, always plenty of people online, and loads of custom maps etc.. Hours fun if you get into it.

Honestly prefer 1.6 by far but great price. Btw I wouldn't say it's very strategic at all and many if not most servers end the round by one team having no players remaining. Simple deathmatch usually. Would say beginners could get into it easily. Recommend to buy either version. :P

This is my favorite game of all time, I always come back to it even when I get fed up of it, it has a massive re-playability factor. I consider myself a casual gamer and its very easy to just join a server and have a bit of fun, whilst it also caters for hardcore gamers. There are literally hundreds of active servers and a buzzing community.

In terms of game modes, the two default modes are planting a bomb or rescuing a hostage, fairly simples, for newbies it might take a while to get used to, you need to have good aim, but really there are different types of playing styles, those who go all guns blazing and rush, awp campers, or playing strategically like anticipating oppositions moves, ambushing, taking cover etc, its quit a dynamic game.

The best thing about CSS is the modding community, this adds a variety of playing modes, for example you have capture the flag servers, fun games with stuff like musical chairs, prison break servers, zombie servers etc. I mostly play zombie servers these days, great fun and a good laugh.

I bought Garry's mod some time ago too but have hardly played it, didnt find much interesting servers and didnt really understand it. Can't go wrong at this price, but theres a new Counter Strike game coming out in August, which has got mixed reception so far.

Actual quote from recommendation on Steam from a friend:
"Best mod for Source engine. It's **** if you're not making movies, not playing in multiplayer or not high. So, get a youtube account, internet and hashish :3"

Zombie mods, especially escape in CS:S are really fun!

Trouble in terrorist town and deathrun are absolutely hilarious when played on the right server. Go on GMod, and join StonedPotatoes. You won't regret it!

It has been £6.99 since sales kicked off. I mean it's not really a Steam sale unless it's -75%. :)
