an ereader screen is not like your phone or laptop, which have a backlit screen

ereader are a kind of lcd screen, like an lcd watch, and use room light to reflect back, they do this so they can save power, and show a screen which uses no power until it changes (the display is semi permanent, to be more like a book)

Indeed. It's called 'digital ink' or some such. I think the light can be taken off it's a nuisance to you anyway.
As for working with the i-pad, i'm not sure to be honest. Not sure how similar the dimensions of the prs-300 to Apple's shiny slab...

Thanks, nearly bought a case for mine last month, but this one is better.

If you bought your reader from January to May this year you can get a pleather case for free http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/reader-ebook/5/1 Oh wow, now they've narrowed it down to Feb to March!
I bought mine last year so I'm out of luck but this looks better anyway and there's no hassle or waiting for a month to find out if they'll even send you one.

the light tucks into the side, it is not in the way. I find it handy for reading in low light. great case for protecting your reader.
great deal at this price.

wonder if you could transplant the light from the PRS-300 cover on to this one. Gives you lighted version for a tenner, cheaper than the £36.99
#14
Comes up at £38.99 when you go to checkout.
#15
Now £38.99 :(
#16
Looks as though it's the leather case WITHOUT the light that's £5.

Nope, as I have one in packing now...they've just run out of £5 ones
#18
guess i'm out of luck, never mind, this needs expiring.
#19
£38.99 now. Gutted I missed out. Needs expiring
#20
Don't worry, it looks like they're not going to give us the £5 ones, it's been 'packing' for 2 days.
#21
mumbojumbo
Same here. The one with the light has "Order Taken" against it for the past 2 days, but the patent leather one I ordered at the same time is "Packing". They'd better not cancel - especially as I bought one at full price from them not long ago. :x

They've posted me the leather ones but the one with a light is sitting at order taken.
