The Carphone Warehouse have the Sony Ericsson J110i on Virgin Mobile pay as you go for just £2.95 when you buy £10 airtime, a package price of £12.95. Next day delivery is FREE and you can get £5 cashback via QuidCo if you wish, bringing the total cost down to £7.95 - less than the value of the airtime alone!

The Sony Ericsson J110i mobile phone has been created for people who don't want a lot of fuss from their handset. It concentrates on handling calls and text messages, which makes it an ideal first choice for anyone who'd like to avoid too many additional features. This phone is impressively slim and light, but it still manages to offer an above-average battery life. It also has a colour screen, making it simple to select the phone's features. Those features have been carefully selected: a memory that'll hold up to 200 numbers, a built-in dictionary to help with your text messages, an alarm clock and a handsfree loudspeaker. Easy to use and easy on the eye, the Sony Ericsson J110i offers a straightforward way to keep in touch.

I'm not entirely sure, but CPW phones are *usually* unlocked as they seem to have a generic stockpile of phones...

However, I can't guarantee it.

Bought one of these yesterday for my father in law and - whilst it's basic - I was pleasantly impressed by it. If you're looking for a no-thrills phone that does the basics - ie. makes and receives calls and text messages etc - then you can't go far wrong with this one. It feels cheap and plasticy and the screen is decidedly low resolution but when do you expect for the price?! All in all, definately not a phone for young 'cool doodz' that want all the latest (and mostly useless) gadgets and widgets but for the more mature, it's a great deal..

Note that if you buy this from a Carphone Warehouse store (as I did), the phone costs £4.95 + £10 credit.

No you cant unlock this one for free.

I got one a few weeks ago and even Virgin do not have the unlock codes. THey say it is going to take 30 days to get the unlock code from SE.

Can anyone tell me how the airtime credit works? I need a temp phone for about 2 week in April, to bounce my number between contracts. Do I have to register the handset immediately to receive the airtime, or can i delay by 6 weeks?
#32
Not that it makes any real difference but these and other low end SE phones are actually Sagem phones branded as SE. Allows SE to cover both ends of the market without the added investment in the low profit sector and boosts Sagem's sales through name association.
#33
Got one ordered, thanks for the tip.
This'll do for those days when I leave all my stuff unattended on the beach but don't want to risk getting my good phone pinched.
#34
I had a virgin sim card sometime back and I remember registering it on-line and getting an extra couple of pounds of airtime added.......... does that still happen??:?

In line with the SE style though. :)

Register a PAYG Virgin SIM on-line and you get £2 airtime added to your account. Just found out that if you take out a CONTRACT, you get £5 added! Useful extra for the CPW deals on Virgin SIM-only contracts.

Credit added 8 days after purchase because of distance selling law.

Just ordered this for my 5yr old son. Admitedly he's still a bit young for a phone but he will enjoy playing with it all the same.

Does anyone know if this has any games included on the handset?
