I think it is just Crash Commando on offer - price cut is due to new DLC being released for it

"The price crash comes with the release of great selection of new game packs to enhance your Crash Commando experience. The Heist Map Pack contains two new large standard maps to play with the new Heist mode where the acquisition of cash is just as important as eliminating your enemies. Heist can be played on and offline, and new Trophies are also available to win.

On top of Heist, there is also the chance to download the character double packs, Colonel Chaos & Army Chick, Gangsta Rapper & Reggae Rasta and Nukem Ninja & Maid Mayhem, each with their own distinct look and taunts. The packs can be purchased individually or together with the Heist Map Pack in the Crash Commando combo pack."

It hasn't sold as well as it deserves because it was £8. For about £8 I can (and did) buy a game like Dirt on BluRay. Then if required, I could always sell it on ebay for 90-100% of the purchase price.

For £4 for a fun little download game, I'm in. (+9 from me). But I'd never pay £8 for something like this........

video of it in action here:

PS How do you know what will be on offer in 5 days time?? Anything else coming on offer from PSN in the near future? Anything I've missed I should look out for? Any current deals?? (Sorry to be so demanding lol)

Thought this was Crash Bandicoot at first.

Looked at youtube vids, Mint I will defo be purchasing it + heat

hot deal to help us through the summer games drought, I guess it's this and Arkham asylum as the next games I am going to own. And remember like pretty much all psn games this can be downloaded to up to 5 different ps3s at any one time so if you have family members with ps3s you could split the cost.

I wasn't sure if that loophole had been closed or not. Presumably if I download it on my account and then my mate logs in on his ps3 and downloads it, we cannot play each other?? Or once downloaded can he go back into his account and we can play each other as per usual?

looks good thanks

Hahahahaha more newbs for me to slaughter, really I play this game 3 hours a week its very good multiplayer, i'm up there at the top, yes I own most players but I also get owned by the leet of the leet.

I fear established players may make it unfun for noobs.

Remember to select fireball first and learn to use it.

How does it matchmake? Surely it doesn't pitch noob against "leet"?

There is no matchmaking, you just join games. In fact its pretty crappy the way it matches sometimes the teams.

So sometimes I join a game with a few people already playing, trash them, and they get bored and annoyed and leave.

Keep your eye on the EU Playstation blog and News Feed - it is much improved now, and they are getting better at giving the heads up on upcoming games and DLC. This info came from the News Feed yesterday.

The best deals recently have been free Fists of Plastic on the US store, free Mirror's Edge DLC and Super Stadust HD for £1something. Only the ME content is still available out of those deals though.

I reckon the EU store will be having an Autumn sale come September - they had one in Spring, then the US store had one for the Summer, so by rights, it is our turn again.

Sony totally rip us off in the UK. Have you compared the exchange rate they charge us versus the US store :x :x I hate Sony for this (among other anti-gamer acts of theirs) and buy as few of their products as possible :x

Compare it to iTunes, where Apple charge us a fair exchange rate

once he's downloaded it using your account I think he might have to have one go on it using the account he downloaded it on to 'activate' it, then once it's activated he can play the game using any account as long as it's on that ps3. I am 99.9% sure of this will work because I often play games that I bought on my American account using my normal UK account. One thing to note is once you put your account on their ps3 if they delete your account they will lose the rights to play games bought on that account, so you might want to change the password on your account after you have downloaded and activated the games for them otherwise they will have access to your account info and possibly credit card details.

I hear what you say and agree for most part but there are exceptions where we in the UK have done ok. The Warhawk DLC is favourable for us and just look at the price of the Motorstorm:PR DLC, in that case we get a much better deal than the US.
As I say though for the most part I do agree with you but to be honest I think it is more likely to be the software publisher to be at fault rather than Sony. For me when there is a big difference then I just don't buy, Fat Princess is one example for me.

I don't know how someone could on one hand complain about being ripped off and a company not looking after their customers and then on the other offer apple as the paradigm of value. And as for looking after their customers, Have you forgotten apple's £13 charge for an ipod touch firmware update?

Also with itunes apple can basically bully record companies not to overcharge through using the exchange rate to squeeze out extra pennies because of zero competition, unlike with the psn where a games developer can threaten to move their content over to xboxlive if sony don't like what they are charging.

Also another difference with itunes and music is if they overcharged european customers they would be giving people more reason to pirate which is the last thing the music industry wants at the moment I mean look at how drm is gradually (very very gradually I admit.) disappearing from itunes. As for PSN games they don't have the problem of piracy on anywhere near the scale that the music industry does.

Though this is pretty interesting proof that piracy can have benefits for ordinary consumers.

Fair comment :) But I was referring solely to Apple's exchange rate on iTunes, which is entirely fair.

I also really appreciate Apps pricing on iTunes, where lots of apps are incredible value compared to any other significant games platform

Anyway, although a PS/PS2/PS3 owner, I have always felt that Sony got incredibly arrogant and anti-consumer with their PS2 success (just like Nintendo used to be, and again are to some extent). I am glad the PS3 languishes in last place, despite owning one.

True about the comment on apple's pricing, but like i said with itunes virtually monopolizing the download market for downloadable music apple has more leverage when it comes to pricing products, also with the problem of piracy means that itunes cannot afford to give people more reasons to just download the songs they want for free.

The pricing for apps is one good thing, but the way apple handle apps is completely another this is one area where I think sony have actually stepped ahead of anyone else, encouraging user generated content in games such as littlebigplanet and the upcoming modnation racers and how sony allows user created mods for unreal tournament (and all this additional content comes for free.). On the other hand apple are very secretive on their selection process for what apps get approved, whereas sony's new psp minis answer to the ipod's app store is promising to be transparent. Source: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PSP/PSP+Minis/news.asp?c=15109 The only downside for us consumers is that sony also will let developers chose their own prices, but hopefully competition will help developers price things competitively.

And it is a good point made about sony's decisions early on in the ps3's lifetime they have made a number of anti-consumer decisions, but I do hope that some of their decisions will come good in the long term, things like making online gaming free meant that the playstation network was behind xboxlive at the start of this generation but it is now around 85%-90% as good as xboxlive (connection issues and bad matchmaking is not something that neither sony nor microsoft seem to have any say in because it varies from game to game on both platforms, at least with sony you're not paying for it.)

Another decision that I am hoping will pan out in the longrun is that unlike ms, sony didn't just buy up developers and exclusives left right and centre but is more nurturing developers internally and hopefully will mean some great exclusives down the line and for many years to come unlike the one off success that comes from buying a title exclusive or a developer studio and then not giving it support (rare for one example) and If sony managed to have more people like team ico and sony liverpool due to this strategy then I would end up happy to have endured some of these bad decisions.

But yeah I do believe sony's biggest mistake this gen is to remove BC from the ps3 and then them turning around and saying how people don't want BC while then offering ps1 titles for download was arrogant.

But arrogance seems to be something all the console makers seem to be sharing this generation, microsoft for releasing a console that they knew had a design floor and hoping they could fix the problem through gradual updates (yes ms did eventually do the whole 3 year warranty thing but ex ms employees have spoken out about how they knew of the RROD problem before they released the console.) Nintendo have shown some supreme arrogance by abandoning their core fanbase which really could come back to bite them in the **** when the whole fad factor either fades or is copied by ms and sony since the new crowd that have adopted the wii this generation having never owned a console before are unlikely to have the brand loyalty of the die hard nintendo fans who have been ignored.

You do not need a 60Gb PS3 console (that allows backward compatibility with PS2 titles from the same region) in order to play original PlayStation disc-based titles.

Unless you sold your PS2 console to fund the purchase of a PS3 console why can you not just continue playing your older titles on your PS2 machine?

BFN,

fp.

PS. A majority of the PlayStation (PS1) titles available from the PlayStation Network can also be played on a PlayStation Portable too.

Price cut not live yet, early days though

Can you not find a friend with a PS3 who does have a connection, set-up your account on their machine, purchase as normal, and just leave the transaction ready to download when you do have Internet access at your own machine again?

(Obviously remove all the account details from the other machine before leaving)

BFN,

fp.

PS. This is the second time this year that the price has been dropped, so it may well happen again. I was ready to buy it previously & the price reverted back to £7.99 again.

Price is live now, thanks OP!!

Can anyone reccomend the DLC? IS the combo pack good value for 3.99, or should I just stick to the map pack & new game mode. But I guess the 6 extra characters are worth £1.70 odd so will get the combo.....
#39
Ordered thanks. Heat and rep.

Tried the trial and unsure on getting the game now. Everything's far too small

Also the trial wouldn't install properly, 3 times I downloaded, which put me in a bad mood maybe lol
