The creative EP630 and sennheiser CX300 are claimed to be exact earphones, yet slightly cheaper compared to the recent amazon deal.

These are the same design but apparently Sennheiser CX300 have better quality parts used so give better results?!?

I was juggling between these and the cx300 over the weekend, since i wanted something cheap for my phone.

From what i gather from head-fi.org , the EP630 and cx300 are largely the same since the drivers are made from the same company. Its really a toss between those who prefer one over the other, mostly favorable reviews.

The one thing that won me over is the Y cord , instead of the weird J cord of the cx300. Plus its 3 quid savings compared to the amazon deal, which is somewhat significant for a student like myself.

Do you get extra ear-bud replacements with the EP630's? You do with the cx300's so may be worth the extra few quid for the spares?

Yes you do get the extra "rubbers".

I bought the EP630's when one of the drivers in my CX-300's stopped working. The reason I got the EP630's was that Google checkout was still running so they worked out much cheaper than the CX-300's. Only my opinion but I think the CX-300's are much better than these and well worth the extra. When these EP630's pack up I'll definately be buying the Sennheisers again.

CX-300's have better transparency, instrument separation, more controlled bass. They are also louder, I have my MP3 player at ¾ with the Creative's, where I used to have it just above half way with the Sennheisers. The EP630's are technically supposed to go deeper but I haven't noticed.

n00b question time - are either of these better than the ones supplied with the iPod (iPod Photo 30gb)?

Yes, they both are.

Stock earphones are made to a tighter budget and so you'll only get 'ok' ones.

Its similar to batteries supplied with remote controls - you'll often get cheap batteries, which do the job, but there are better out there.

Personally I think you'll be better buying of the cx300 as I have and I'm not disappointed with my buy at £8.99 and free delivery at simplebuying.co.uk and they are original I've checked them It is unbeliveable £8.99 for a £39.99 rrp.
