thinking the same here?

I have these

They're a standard 3.5 stereo jack, so wont connect to your 360 (which I believe uses a 2.5). The cable is quite long though, probably a good 3m

also

im about to make myself a dell business account. i have a business name registered (just been too lazy to do anything with it :-D). anything i need to know about before setting up?

if i buy a 2.5 adapter (if there is one) would it affect the sound quality? and would you still need to connect the headset to the controller?
#8
I doubt this will work with the 360 very much even with a 2,5mm jack adapter, the original third party live headsets dont work with the 360 controller, there is something in the connector to do with mute function that seems to stop generic stuff working.

Of course headsets have to be connected to the controller how else are you going to use it that is the only method of connection for wired headsets with the 360 !

Looks like a nice headset though to use with p.c, with the voucher and quidco its around £14.99 if quidco tracks. Seems like a good deal.

No its not compatible with the ps3 either there is no way of connecting it ! This is a p.c gamming headset !
#9
Hmm... This would be pretty good for playing Left 4 Dead. Only problem is that will push the price past the 360 version. What to do, what to do.
#10
I paid £24 for these from OCuk (Abeit with Race Driver:GRID thrown in for free) and they are great so £15.49 is a great deal.

They do.

Not as good as the 360 version mic's (even though they are rubbish) but the original xbox live headsets work with all my 360's

OK thanks - just wanted to check before ordering - think I'll have them anyway for laptop.
#13
No they dont. Not the third party generic ones that came with some live kits / controllers anyway.

I had a load of them and they didnt work. Binned them in the end.

I have played the left for dead demo on the 360 and its brilliant. You dont need a mouse and a keyboard unless you are rubbish at fps, also split screen and live friends list. No brainer for me, I dont really buy pc games anymore..
#14
The live kit ones from halo 2 work, so do the pgr2 ones. Saying as my son is using one at this very moment and I used one 2 nights ago on end wars
#15
Official ones. Third party ones that came with a third party controller, headset and 3 month sub definately do not work trust me. I had half a dozen of them I got with cheap kits to get the 3 months subs and they dont work with the 360 !

Official headsets for the original xbox work but the 3rd party headsets definately do not work ! This is a third party headset I am 99% sure it will not worjk with the 360 as it doesnt have the mute function on the connector. The oficial ms xbox headsets work as they have this !

Wow! what timing, I was just about to order a headset for £25 but from the reviews this is better! Have a big pat on the back from me OP :)

Who buys a 3rd party controller they stink.

The original xbox headsets also do not have a mute(well they might have on the dongle for xbox) but when using it for the 360 there is not one but they still work, although they are supposed to be a little quiet
#18
Well I have bought one for the p.c anyway, I will try it on the 360 but virtually no chance of it working like I said.
#19
Errr, yes they do. I used an old Xbox headset in preference to my new (horrible) 360 one. If you want to use the mute/volume functions you need a dongle that plugs into the controller and looks exactly like the the block on the end of a 360 old style (new ones have an inline control) headset. You can get one of these blocks from dealextreme and they also do a 3.5mm to 2.5mm connector for pence,

Be aware though that if these do work with the 360 - and I'm not saying they will - you will probably only get the voice comms through them and you will have the big cans over your ears blotting out the game sound. Have a look at the Turtle Beach X1 headset instead. Or get the Plantronics X30 if you can get one, I use that now and it is fantastic but you need to hit ebay as it is US only.

Can people read what has been posted ! Did you not read what I said ? The generic headsets of the original xbox do not work with the 360 - like I said I had hald a dozen of them and they didnt work I thrw them in the bin. The official ones do fair enough.

I bought half a dozen for them for the 3 month live subs in the packs. I got them for £3 each = £18 for 18 months xbox live subscription + I sold the controllers for a fiver each on ebay.

So Basically I made a small profit and got a 18 month live subscription

I was thinking dealextreme for the adapters to try this, but I cant see any 3.5mm > 2.5 mm adapters on there only vice versa. They must not do them any more.

These headsets have a microphone mute button on the lead, and should work with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm connector on a 360 pad.
#23
Interesting. Its worth a try I remain to be convinced but if they have the mute function on there it sounds promising.

Found the adapters 2.5mm > 3.5mm cost £1.70 delivered for 2 so ordered a couple to try. I cant find the mute blocks mentioned though.

Also looking round there are some third party headsets like this epecifically for the 360 and they do put sound out the headphones, definately worth a try as this is a £30 headset and the one that comes with the 360 is like 50 pence so would be much better if it did work.
#24
Yet another thing I didn't know I wanted until I saw it here:thumbsup:

Added a +

Thanks!

THis is a veryy good price looking around and it has excellent reviews. Great if you need a pc headset with the possibility (As yet unconfirmed) it might work on the 360.

If it did work properly on the 360 that would be just awesome as the stadard headsets (apart from the wireless one) are pants.

PC World doing these for £19.99. Posted here a couple of weeks ago.
Bought some last week, good quality. Only complaint is they leak sound a bit, ie those around you may not be too impressed by your new toy.

Hot!

At the worst you could hook these up to your tv with voice coming through tv, then plug your xbox headset into the pad and just hang it round your neck. The mic would still pick you up and you can hear your mates.
#28
What you propose there completely defeats the purpose of using this as a headset.....Also I dont use a tv I use a hd projector so there is no sound input or output.

I'm in the same position here, got a decent pc (e8400, ati 4850) and a 360, not sure what to get this on, thing is i bet voice chat will be important due to the teamwork.

Currently the 360 is swinging it for me as I don't need to buy a headset and most of my real life mates will buy it on 360 as they don't "get" pc gaming.
#30
bargain!!! 15.43 vs 28 (Scan)

Ordered!!! thx!

Bought one of these from PC world a couple of weeks ago, but took them back.
Actually found them very uncomfortable, most user reviews mention this.
#32
Bit of a hijack but does anyone know how to get standard headphones working on the 360?
Not for chatting and listening to people but for the game sounds?
#33
Let us know how you get on with your 360 experiments with these headphones. If it is possible then I'll be grabbing a pair.
#34
stupid question but have to ask can they be used for voip calls ?

I got early demo access to left 4 dead its out to general populus on Wednesday. Download the 360 demo, it looks amazing and its much more fun playing this sort of game on the 360. Integrated voice comms and you have your friends list. I dont understand when people talk mouse and keyboard, its a bit regressive I much prefer using a pad get into the 20th century !

For me Its just no fun playing games like this on the p.c anymore after live. Its only £30 at amazon, £10 more than the p.c version but it will work out cheaper in the long run as pc games have virtually 0 resale value where as you could play this for 6 months and still get £15 for a the 360 version on ebay probably.
#37
Bahh now I've gone and spent more money on a USB Soundcard so I can get the virtual surround sound (only £30 from Dell again) Curse you martyj999! :-D
