good price for a camera with ok specs. I am still more tempted to pay the extra for the kodak playsport.

not sure about the playsport but the Vado doesnt usually come with a charger, so if using for long trips may be difficult to charge unless you take a lap top.

really liked the idea of these new camcorders, shame this one has a protruding lens. nice find tho!

it does seem really strange that most of these cameras don't have any kind of lens protection... and no chargers! althougth i am sure my mate said you can now get usb charger kits that will work with most usb devices.

I understand what you mean; but this isn't a new model; it's generation 2 and there is already a Generation 3 model available.

This has a replaceable / rechargeable li-ion battery that is charged when connected to the PC (using the built in USB connector) and should give up to two hours use. I think you can buy a separate mains charger and replacement / spare batteries.
You can get mains adapters that will charge usb devices; I can't see why they wouldn't work with this although I'd look for reviews or recommendations before trying one.

Bought one of these as a gift, can confirm no charger, but can get a usb powerpoint for about £2 of play.

Also the first one I bought had to return as it "locked up" on first use.

The replacement is good and simple enough to use with good results, indoors and outdoors. Please note that once it starts to go dark the quality does detoriate.

Thanks for the info thedriver. always good to hear info first hand from someone who has used the product. will have a look on play for the usb chargers as well.

Does anyone think this would be suitable as an action cam for mountain biking?

Mounting its not an issue its just motion blur may be a problem.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

from what i have seen you get better image stabilisation on the playsport, and you could probably drop it, get it dirty etc... without worry!

I got the 4gb a a few weeks ago for the same price - doh! Happy with it as a basic recorder for when my sony camcorder is not convenient to use - fits in your pocket easily enough or the wife's handbag. So far just filmed some days out with the kids, parties etc and happy with the results. Can't say I have tested it in an "action" scenario like mountain biking etc. Get a USB to 3 pin plug converter cheap though as it's sometimes a pain to have to plug it into the PC to charge. All in all worth the money

I brought one of these about 9 months ago. The best pocket video camera out there for under £100

The 4Gb version is £10 cheaper and comes with an extra battery included.
Seems a better buy to me.
