# Replaces low-quality on-board audio
# X-Fi Crystalizer restores detail to mp3
# Compact and portable
# Enjoy surround sound on stereo speakers

An experience beyond studio quality, for MP3 music and movies.

Creative's Xmod upgrades audio from low fidelity to Xtreme Fidelity in seconds! Compatible with PCs and Macs and requiring no software installation, it delivers an audio experience over headphones or stereo speakers that's beyond studio quality, for amazing results with MP3 and movies! It incorporates Creative's award winning X-Fi audio technologies; X-Fi Crystalizer, which restores the details and vibrancy lost during MP3 and movie compression, plus X-Fi CMSS-3D, which converts audio to surround sound over headphones or stereo speakers. The ultra-compact Xmod features convenient connectivity and easy controls for volume and effects, plus a clever "push to mute" feature. For better audio with Xmod, just connect, enhance and enjoy!

Instant entertainment center

Why settle for basic, built-in sound? Your music and movie collection deserves better. It deserves Xtreme Fidelity. Get ready to turn all of your MP3s into your own personal concert and hear your movies in virtual surround sound over stereo speakers or headphones.

Start using your Creative Xmod in an instant. It's true plug-and-play - no software installation needed. It works with any desktop or notebook PC and Macs too.

Restore the details to your downloaded music and movies

Most downloadable music and movies are compressed; making downloads fast, and storage and portability convenient. The downside is that the quality and fullness of your songs and soundtracks are diminished.

Enter the Xmod. It restores the details and vibrance to your audio by intelligently enhancing the highs and lows. You'll hear it all - crisp cymbal crashes, wailing guitar solos, screeching tires and deep, booming explosions.

Enjoy surround sound over stereo speakers

Your Creative Xmod expands your stereo MP3s and digital movies into virtual surround sound through your stereo speakers or headphones. Voices are centered in front of you. Ambient sound appears all around you...just like a live performance.

Slip on your headphones and X-Fi also moves the sound away from your ears and into the space around you. You'll be surrounded by nine virtual speakers and feel like you're sitting in with your favorite band or that you've been dropped into the best seat in the movie theater.

Hi all, how does this compare with my Audigy (v1) Platinum card, with interface panel?
#3
You can get a very high quality sound blaster card for a similar price. I dunno how much of a bargain this is really. It does look nice though (very Apple).
#4
Seems pretty good if you have a laptop with crappy on board sound ... Hot!

I dont really see the point of getting one of these... someone explain?

If you have rubbish onboard sound on your laptop then this will give you much better sound quality (uses USB). Supposedly.

They're really not much use for a desktop as a half decent PCI sound card costs around £20ish.

Perfect for me because my headphone port is broken.

As other posters said excellent sound solution for laptops [if you are interested in audio & audio calibration, you must know what i'm talking :)]
#9

The Creative X-Fi soundcards are the only ones that use the same technology as these devices and they start at about £100 the last time I checked. A £20 soundcard couldn't even start to compare to an X-Fi. The jiggery pokery that these gadgets do to MP3s really does make a difference.

If you are able to harness the superior power of a Mac ;o) then you could always try OSS 3D

I'm betting that in this day and age, most laptops are never used "on the move" and spend all their time in the home.

You can get a basic X-Fi PCI sound card for £30;
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio

The X-Mod is there to give you virtual surround sound instead ofyour basic stereo sound from your laptop.

Ideal for those that do sit their laptops at home and don't take them anywhere, but also for those tha do AND want virtual surround sound!

My laptop travelled around the world (mileagewise) :) With me of course. Still see no reason for buying such thing.
