I wouldnt be able to justify the £150 ish for the Ipod...........I cant even justify the £90 odd I've just paid for the Zen either right enough.

For me its the flexibility that the Zen seems to offer with the formats it will play, the advantages of drag & drop and not being tied too closely to Apple.

I'm not sure how long it will take for me to fill the 16gb (8000 songs !!) but if / when I do SDHC cards will be as cheap as chips - only £14.99 for an 8gb card from play at the moment with capacities increasing & prices dropping all the time.

Good deal, nice spot. :)

Ta

My night shift`s not a total washout then

Only problem I have now is whether to keep the Zen or the brand new Sansa View that I managed to snaffle for £75 2 nights ago (not even been delivered yet).

Decisions decisions................

Anyone want to buy an MP3 Player :w00t:

its a hot price, £100 is cheapest i've seen by far

however i went last week to buy the 8gb version for curry's, three players later all i managed to get from the screen was nice white display (common problem after a Google) and i don't think it was just a batch. as they all came from different deliveries.. so just something to watch out for.

The deal-breaker for me with these Zens is the fact that the music you have on your SD cards is kept separate from the onboard stored music. you can't mix them apparently....

Voted hot (its a good price) - but does anyone have one of these that can comment?
An 80GB iPod classic is only £40 more!!!
Id prefer a Zen - but hate the fact its only got a smaller (solid state) memory on board. True it has expansion - but at cost and still only small!

I had always dismissed iTunes complaints as forum noise. However having bought an iPod Classic a few months back I found (at least the Windows version) to be the resource sucking, inflexible piece of software described. I still just can't understand Apple being comfortable with putting something of this quality out to so many future customers??? (Its certainly the biggest put off for me considering handing over cash for a 3G iPhone when they arrive…)

Anyway, the point is there are ways to use an iPod without iTunes. Two very popular alternatives are:

http://www.floola.com and http://www.yamipod.com

So if player capacity is your key requirement these may help...

If you think iTunes is bad you should try SonicStage - horrendous software!!!

gutted - out of stock.

isnt this the exact samething for alot cheaper?

I had a similar dilemma, I've had 2 players for years, a 40GB brick for having lots at my fingertips and a 512mb one for running around with. I was tempted by the Ipod due to my expanding collection of music but chose the Zen because it's a direct compromise between the 2.

Yep, mine had a white screen when I got it. You don't actually need to replace it, it's not broken it's a simple thing to fix, if you know how. With the player switched off hold down Play/Pause, hit the reset button with a pin, turn the player on and you get a menu, select reboot and hey presto you've got a working player!

Because most people won't know any different. And the money they make from iTunes vastly outweighs the money they lose from people who don't like it.

They're out of stock again, but expect the price of this to continue to fall. Creative are no longer making accessories for the Zen, which suggests a new version is just around the corner. Rumours are that it'll have X-fi built in! Anybody who's heard the output from their top of the range soundcards will know how good that would be!

whats wrong with sonicstage? i still use it and its fine. Plus has any1 got this product and know if its any good, because am not happy with buying an ipod, doesnt give me that satisfaction really. No offense to any apple fans.

I'm stuck between this and the Sony Walkman NWZ-A815. Any thoughts?

Depends on whether you want to watch video at all. This has a bigger screen and SD Card expansion. Sony has slightly better battery life and metal casing.

Cheers for the feedback guys helped me out a lot, although with sony releasing so many more models it makes you wonder if you shud get creative zen or sony, at the end of the day i dont care about the videos or if it has a colour screen or not, its all about the sound quality for me, if the device can provide good bass, treble and overall sound then its thumbs up from me.

Can anyone recommend a good protective case for this player?
