Just bought one from Ebay, refurb, but Creative have sold thousands listed as refurbed but are new. £26.00 plus P&P, total 34.45. And there were a few.

I wouldn't touch creative with a barge pole, except to smash it.
I bought a creative Zen, it stopped working after about 3 months, contacted them, their customer service staff sent me emails saying to download the software from the site. (it wouldn't switch on) after about 20 e-mails they accepted that it wouldn't switch on and replaced it.

So 5 months after buying it, I got a replacement which after 2 months stopped working. Went through the Customer service people again...this time I was told it was no longer under warrenty as replacements only came with 2 months and I should try downloading the software.

They effectively took 5 months warrenty from me.

Eventually after about a month of exchanged e-mails, most of which were the standard 'download the software', I said that if the matter wasn't resolved I would sent an e-mail to the Chief Exective and the MD of Creative quoting both of their names.
I received a phone call the next day saying that they would replace the Zen.

The new one lasted about 5 months! I couldn't be bothered to go through the whole thing again but I would advise anyone against buying stuff from them.....you find out how good a company are when the product goes wrong.

Was this an auction or buy it now?

I've had a creative 4gb player for 3+ years and never had a problem.

My "Zen Micro" had the standard Creative headphone socket problem.

On Creative's website there are numerous threads from people with the same problem. After a few months, the connection between the headphones and the mp3 player becomes dodgy. The slightest tap and you stop hearing sounds. Tap it again, and the sounds return.

If you're lucky, it'll happen during the warranty period. If you're not, well...

Mind you, for £50, this is a good buy. And the mp3 player is very cute, even if the build quality is dodgy.

Thanks for that. It's more expensive including delivery and refurbished so hardly a comparison and reason for voting it cold is it.

i sadly had the same problem and for a time managed to fix it by jamming the lose socket in a certain direction with bits of metal lol seriously it worked. but now the problem is worse and the only way round it is to keep it in a mobile phone case where the cable cant move. such a shame cos it was an amazing player at the time and was better than the equiv ipods of the day.

i think people said it was resolved in later versions of this model so i dunno. dont seem to listen to as much music now and will probably get a sansa 8gig player when they reach sub 100

I've had a brilliant experience from their customer service. I had about 3 units replaced and they even sent me a zen micro back with an extra gig of space

my zen touch worked for 2 years, then the touchpad stopped working, but battery life was pretty much the 24 hours it was when I got it. Was a good player.
#19
I seem to remember a recall for the socket problem - probably worth checking it out with Creative.
#20
if your buying a creative zen micro you may as well go down to your local market and by some cheap thing for £20.

I had 2 of these, have put me off creative and they were kept in prestine condition, your best off with flash memory as they are virtually impossible to break whereas hard-drives aren't as durable.

also your better off with paying a bit more with someone like Boots than off eBay or a skanky refurb. They replaced my Creative within 3days of dispatching it to them, then the second time refunded me the entire cost of the zen as that is in there returns policy, you can't go wrong.

Don't get me wrong i love the player, beats ipods hands down.
Its a Zen V plus (i think, it blue + 4 gigs so i think thats it) plays videos, holds all my music easy to use, easy to put music on to!
Only thing is that i bought it from walmart in America about October time, and now its stopped working (keeps telling me to press the reset button, the freezes after the "library is re-built")

Annoying :-(

I've a 4gb zen micro photo. Had it for quite a while now and has always worked fine. Like most of these gadgets these days, it didn't come with a mains charger but managed to get creative original one with european adapter cheap from an ebay shop. The only frustrating thing is that you can't see the screen very well at all in sunlight which is a problem when your on the beach or by the pool trying to change your music. All in all a great player etc. Also, picked up a Belkin headphones splitter recently for £0.50 at ASDA
(my local store still has them at that price): great for sharing your music with someone.
