White now £150 at pixmania with 2% cashback. Great spot guys, wanted a player that can play divx files. Personally I dont really like ipods, they have poor reliability and are vastly overated in my experience. My wife is on her third one....

Must have been a mis price they corrected very quickly, in fact whilst i was trying to check out. Its back up to £159 again + £7 postage. Pixmania still the cheapest by the looks of it...

The battery life on ipods is is awful after 6months or so. Everyone I know has had at least one faulty ipod.

Would you like to explain your thoughts on why the battery life could possibly be any worse on an iPod than every other brand of mp3 player available? They all use the same basic tech...:lazy:

My girlfriends Shuffle still shows no discernible depreciation in battery life after a year of use, then again she doesn't top it up daily and usually only charges it when the battery is actually drained, which probably doesn't hurt.

ipods are notorious for battery problems......Let google be your guide or read the article schizoboy posted that talks about this....

The article is about 3G and older iPods that are over 2 and half years old, getting a warranty repair, and 1 and 2G ipods getting a discount if the battery craps out within 2 years. The article itself is over a year and half old, where is the relevence?

I've been using mp3 players since the original Diamond Rio, and been using the internet for longer than that. People on the internet says lots of things, and experience tell me not to selectively accept things I read on the web as fact. Everything breaks, including iPods, fortunately most don't.

Have a look on discussion forums and you'll find people still using their 1, 2 and 3G iPods with their original battery and getting reasonable battery life for their age, and remember that the original iPod is now over 5 years old.

This kind of misinformation is yet another example of magically transforming someone's bad luck into the biblical chants of zealots and fanboys. Just like 'the PS2 breaks every 13 months' script, or the 'all Xbox 360s overheat' mantra.

If they were all true, then sales of all these items would grind to a halt. They haven't so obviously it ain't.

Either that, or myself and all my friends are lucky enough to have the only consoles and MP3 players that last longer than a few months and manage not to stop reading discs then go on fire!

I confidently feel that this is fairly unlikely :p

    PEOPLE!!!!!
    i am in such a dilemma!!!! :?
i am looking to buy a new mp3 player and after much research i have come to the conclusion that i will buy either the 80gb ipod video or the 60gb zen vision m!!! but i cannot choose 1 !!!! :p
    both are just as good
the i pod sleek and sexy the zen full of extras and players more video formats !!
    wa shall i do?? !!!!
any suggestions will be much appreciated!! cheers!!! :w00t:

I guess if money no object then you could get the ipod and enjoy the smaller size and the bigger harddrive. However the zen is less expensive.

The dilema I have is whether to get the 30 gig at about £150 or the 60 gig at 200 quid?

200 bucks is a lot to splash out on a unit as fragile as the zen appears to be ( search for zen vision + broken screen)

    jaym,

I suppose you have to decide which of the different features are more advantageous to you.If you are going to be using it for video, film and stuff like that I would say get the creative, the creative is also a bit cheaper,at least £18 cheaper, but you may think that an extra 20gig is worth this.

As regards the 'sleek and sexy' ipod, whatever floats your boat,it is personal taste.I prefer the creative because imo it feels more solid,to me the ipod feels a bit 'flimsy'.

    phatboy,

Again,is £50 worth it for an extra 30 gig?
I know for some folk that is a no brainer,I have the 30gig and it is more than enough for me,only used 1/4 of the space so far and have got loads of music on it.I personally do not use it for video, whether I will in the future, maybe, but do use it for photos and they look lovely on it.
As for the problems with the screen, have not heard of this problem myself, certainly have never had a problem with mine.I love my vision m,I researched it very carefully before making my decision and am very glad that I chose it.

For anyone considering the creative vision m i would suggest looking at getting a skin for it from this site best skins ever it cost around £5 delivered and it protects your mp3 from scratches, smudges and all other manner of damage, well worth it to keep your spangly new piece of gear looking as good as the day you bought it.

Thanks for the input mucky - re broken screen check http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2006/08/11/broken-creative-visionm-lcd-screen/ for some horror stories.

I personally favour the creative - It just seems the right choice for me - however apparently there is some difficulty getting skins that fit the 60 gig vrs.

I know i am being rediculously indecisive - its just that its a lot of cash for me and I would freak if the screen broke and then got the warranty hassle
