The pink and green player are £146.50

Pretty good value for money!!

I just got the 60gb for £190 last weekend. The resale value of these will always remain much higher than the 30gb ones. Plus it will keep all my music for next 10 years!

Scott

Actually, I think those two cheaper ones are from an Amazon MarketPlace sellers. The 60Gb version is £192 delivered approximately :)

Creative are due to release a x-fi enabled hi-fi dock for the zen

It offers 2.1 sound. The x-fi chip improves quality of mp3/wma tracks and is found on their high end cards. I have a x-fi music and can honestly say it makes a huge difference.

So hopefully a very good mp3 hi-fi setup. No reviews yet!

Selling in singapore for $599 singapore dollars. £200 conversion. So probably an initial retail of £250. A little steep but will have to see what the review say!
#6
Very nice :) Thanks for the info ;-)
#7
not exactly the cheapest, but if you want you can buy from Comet for just over £194 for the 60gb version.

But will it last 10 years, I'm on my second Zen & I have mega problems.Having said that perhaps the I-Pod is no better. IMHO there speakers are brilliant.

A word of caution, any Creative player made before this model had a design flaw, whereby the headphone jack would come apart from the board over time.

This was a huge design flaw, and will eventually happen to pretty much any Zen model released before then Zen Vision, so be very careful if you buy a later model. it happened to me, and its a b**** to take apart and solder back together.:x

Also, try to refrain from updating the firmware-take a look at the amount of Zen on eBay that are broken due to failed firmware flashing if you don't believe me.

Good deal though, i am tempted!

The coloured ones are via Pixmania, but buying through Amazon is cheaper than directly from Pixmania (even taking Quidco into account). Interesting.
My friend also had problems with the headphones on an earlier model. Is it possible to repair?
#12
hmm, i cant decide between this and the ipod video 30gb
#13
Be different and go for the Creative.
#14
Aaaaaaaah! Not Pixmania, worst customer service...ever!

I had to send a scanner back there, it was DOA, never worked once out of the box, they offered to send me a year old refurb model and refused to do anything else for me, i was pretty disgusted that i paid full price for a duff scanner, and then had to settle for a year old one.

Very very difficult to talk to, i would never use again.

I think you must have been unlucky, I've had a number of creative players with no issues at all, including a 60GB Zen Nxtra which still serves me well.

Sadly might be tempted away to an Ipod however as you can get an 80GB one for £220!!

also seems that the zen vision is subject to the screen breaking for no reason at all.

Yes - it has put me off spending 200 quid on the 60gig one.

I would say if anything hargravegas that you have been lucky, by just typing the words creative zen broken headphone into Google, 184000 pages are found. Loads and loads of people have experienced this problem, and it is almost guarnteed to happen over time.

I and four of my friends have a Creative Zen player of some description from the touch to the vision m(that's mine).

None of us have had a problem with them, headphone jacks are fine and screens intact.

There will always be some who experience problems with things they buy, especially electronic items, but to suggest that the folk experiencing no problems are the exception is folly.Google for problems and of course you will find info pertaining to such, those who are happy with their purchase don't usually find the need to set up a site where they can express their satisfaction!
Amazon-185 reviews 4 1/2* rated,Ebuyer- 46 reviews 5* rated,What Hi Fi- 5* rated,T3 mag recommended product....etc etc.
Apple ipods also have problems, many freeze and are returned to be repaired.
Also factor into the equation that some folk do not handle their items with the same care as others(despite their protestations to the contrary)

If you didn't buy a product because some have experienced problems then you wouldn't buy anything!

I've had 3 Creative players and now use NONE of them. First was a 30gb zen xtra which decided to freeze constantly and black out before I got a replacement. Had that for a couple of months before the same problem. This time they refused to fix it as the warrenty was out of date. I'd always like creative so stupidly bought a zen touch. 3 months later the headphone jack bugged and after googling realised it was a common problem. Contacted Creative and they told me the warrenty had run out even though I bought from pixmania just 3 months before. Made me so angry and customer services talked to me like a piece of s###. I said i'd never buy from them again and they said they werent bothered! Never again, got an ipod now and touch wood, haven't had any problems. Save your money and listen to people who have experienced them.

I've got a Zen vision M, had it about a year, no problems.
#23
Thats some fair points muckypup, and i totally agree with you upto a point, but the headphone jack problem with the Creative line is actually a design flaw, in the sense that after a period of time, all Zens will eventually suffer from it.

My Zen was used daily for many years before it eventually succumbed to the aforementioned problem and i had to repair it, i can pretty much guarantee that the jack socket will break eventually, even if it takes years and you look after it really well.

Needless to say i hope no-one falls foul of the fault, and regardless would still recommend the Creative line to anyone.

I accept all your comments & the problems that I have had are due to faulty products, not any personal abuse! Having said that I can offer no alternative product! My Creative speakers for instance (which I highly recommend) are great, just havn't been lucky with there MP3 players. Not trying to put people off the product, just my personal experience.

All the feedback is very useful :) Thanks everyone ;-)

I don't have one of these, so can't comment personally on them.

Taking into account the above and the 4.5****'s from around 185 Amazon customer reviews, I would say the Creative Zen Vision has a lot going for it though and makes it a tempting buy...

I must add that I have never had a problem with the screen! Perhaps it's an American problem.

This might be why these are falling:

I wouldn't be surprised if they fall a bit more, however they'll sell far faster than this deal has hung around for.

About bloody time! Looks very nice

I've had mine since May last year and i really like it. Video playback is superb and is better than the ipods.

The only problem that i found is that it can be a right pain to get recognised by your pc ( i needed to install service pack 2 to get it to work). Apart from that, its been reliable and believe me, it gets used constantly

But i dont deny that that for accessories, pod casts and itunes, the Ipod is far superior.

But i like to be different so the Zen wins ;)

I had a 30 gig ipod and then got a creative zen vision m. The zen has more colours and a brighter screen but i think the viewing angle was less. But the sound quality IMHO was miles better & the built in radio was great.

Another advantage is that any Divx movies you have will play on the unit without conversion, so no more converting it mp4 format. However it won't play most of the ipod mp4 which is floating about on the net!

If anyone's interested in one i'm selling my black one, pm for details. In fact i'll put it up on the for sales board here.
#36
love my player-had it about a month, and it froze a couple of times early doors when uploading stuff, but fine since, and simple reset fixes that. Just beware that no mains charger comes with it, so that will be extra iutlay if you require one. Any mp3 player of this memory is a risk and may fail-creative, ipod, whoever......
