I bought a 30gb zen vision, a 4gb zen V, a 2gb zen v+ and 1gb zen V from creative refurbs on Monday - for xmas presents.

All goods arrived in plain brown box packaging Thursday.
Checked them over, and they all looked brand new to me, not a mark on any of the casings, easily as good as new.

Come with a 90 day warranty though.

One came semi charged, tested it and it was working fine.
I have left the others on charge today - will check them out tonight.

All the players came with manuals, warranty paperwork, usb transfer cable (charging cable), and a new sealed pack of headphones.

Excellent buy to be honest, but the deal has been posted on here a few times so I didnt bother reposting.

Enjoy

I wondered if the 2gb zen v+ would play DivX files. Could watch downloaded shows on the train then.

I was wondering the same - I've read some user reviews saying DivX play OK - but others say you have to convert them first.

Can anyone confirm this for us?

All I will say is 'CUSTOMER SERVICE!'

My housemate purchased one of these refurbished units from Creative approximately just over a month ago, worked fine for the first two days but then disaster struck! It had a mind of it's own. So onto the phone he gets, everything seemed hunky-doory, arranged for the product to be sent back... ...a month later and he is still to this day waiting to recieve the replacement. Not only this, a £10 addition to his phone bill trying to chase this matter up.

By no means am I saying this would be a bad purchase nor a bad company to consider, just be aware of the bad customer service should something go wrong!

Also something to note, he specified he wanted a black 30gb Zen via the website, recieved a pink one, yes a PINK one!

My mate has the 8g v+ and the video format is really odd, it doesn't take divx files it has to transcode them, but a 50mb divx file ends up being 200+mb after converting and looked quite poor.

It converts the files into uncompressed MJPEG format, which is basically a series of jpegs flipped in front of you at 15 frames per second with an audio track synced to it.

Also, it takes an age to copy across video, could be his usb ports though.

So bottom line is no it can't play divx, just MJPEG, which can resize your files by 200-300%! i.e. not great for video if you've ever used a zen vision or ipod classic etc.

It can play DivX files, however as none of the Creative MP3/4 players are DivX certified they cannot adjust the size of the video file. So you need to quickly re-encode the files to a smaller resolution with a program like Pocket DivX (Free) or the Creative software (Free)

I have the Creative ZEN (nothing else... just ZEN) and it's lovely :-D

Robotochan In regards to the zen v+ it's definetly MJPEG only, i have the zen vision:m and that plays divx flawlessly.. unless its ac3 audio, or divx 3... and the normal Zen plays them, but those little V+'s don't unfortuntely... Also the screen seems quite different with a bit of blurring/delay when using it.

Anyone intrested in selling one they have bought? I really want one..

Had a Zen Vision:M from the refurb site for about a month but then the hdd developed an dodgy clunking sound. To be fair to creative though they gave me a refund when they were only obliged to replace.

Think i'll get a flash based player like the newer Zen instead
