mmmmm very tempted. Anyone know if they better than the rest of the mp3 players ipod/sandisk etc? i'm quite oblivious to whats good/bad....normally just use my phone/headphones for mp3's :P Do have a x-fi soundcard and its amazing....prob the reason im tempted by this!

For what its worth, when I was looking at user reviews, there was a lot of complaints about appalling battery life. Thats what put me off. I think CNET even went back and downgraded the score... but don't quote me on that.

You can't go wrong with the new sony's, double your memory promotion and good prices, well reviewed sound quality and iplayer compatible. Thats what I would do. IMHO of course. iPods not for me, but I can see the appeal. I really like the idea of BBC iplayer shows, and not many are compatable, iPods can only stream as far as I know, not play downloaded shows. Sony and this x-fi will play them, and the x-fi screen is good.

The only problems with this item is the wifi is useless (can't go online).
The sound quality although not bad isn't great. The battery life is not great.
The sd card isn't intergraded into the main library like sansa mp3 players.
Weak radio (depends how much you would use this feature)
The keypad was created with the chat function in mind which sucks.

Though it is still an ok choice and the earphones included are a step up from most earphones supplied (apart from the premium ones from sony and the zune players included with some of their players). It is built fairly well.
Here is another review to look over:

Are you really quoting a review by The Gadget Show? REALLY?

Awful programme, shameful technical knowledge and overall bad presenting. Amazing competitions, though.

No, ive used one, and as ive said, its a rubbish product. Battery life is horrid, even on just audio. The menus are clunky and ill though out, in relation to the buttons. And BTW, thats in comparison to other creative products, not an ipod as you incorectly assumed.

But at £150, its a good price if you can live with the bad points.

I hope this plays AVIs on the fly because at this price, and you have to convert vids, well creative are about 6 years behind. Can this be connected to any TV?

I nearly went for one of these as I have a Creative Zen which has been great, althought the radio reception isnt great...

Yesterday I bout this bad baoy http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/MP3_Players.1/Cowon_iAudio.15/IAUDIOD28GBDAB/Cowon_iAudio_D2_8GB_MP3_Player_with_DAB_Digital_Radio.2623.html

Far superior in all ways and it hasd DAB - yes DAB on a MP3 player...

This site does Price beat - I got a low price elsewhere and they matched BUT...

They gave me a free silicone case
and a free remote control helicopter - nice!!

I did have the same thought when reading that ;)

Generally I find the anythingbutipod site to be good for non-Apple mp3 player reviews.

What TV Programme is better than the gadget show then for reviews/technology? sadly its about the only programme, its good at what it does, its aimed at the general public, the only other TV programme I can think of is 'Click' but thats 20 minutes a week on niche sattelite channel BBC News or the BBC website.

The 80's was much better for technology programmes .... tomorrows world, Making the Most of the Micro, Micro live, the computer programme etc.

Whatever happened to Ian McNaught-Davis, Fred Harris and Lesley Judd ???

I've got the 16Gb version and never had a problem.

Battery life is fine.

All good so long as they decide to support it on the next version of Windows. Pot luck with Creative.

Atrocious atrocious player (very much unfortunately, I wanted to be a iPod refusenik).List of problems as long as my arm, the most annoying that it crashes repeatedly (hence the handily provided reset button) - the most ridiculous of which is it can't even manage to update the timer in the bottom corner of the screen every second (it goes 1...2...34...5...6...78...9 etc)

The headphones are great, except that if you walk or run while wearing them, you'll get sick of the deafening thudding of your feet in no time.

Sadly - as someone said before - rubbish.

Why does it have to be a TV show? For me the format is inherently flawed as there's only so much information you can provide in a few minutes of viewing. The fact that there aren't any decent TV programs doing reviews doesn't mean that the gadget show is any better, given the vast amount of information available online now that's a far better resource than the Gadget Show ever can be.
That's generously putting aside the fact that the gadget show frequently talk a lot of rubbish and seem to have little clue about what they're talking about. Admittedly I don't watch it very often but I've never seen anything to convince me otherwise.

It doesn't have to be a TV show, but not everyone is online and has the information to hand on products, pretty much anyone interested in technology would have access to a TV, the gadget show briefly reviews/covers products in an area, they give basic information and pointers for things to look at when checking the best product for you, I think its mainly good advice, even if it doesn't go into the detail you may want, their advice is generally to check a product for yourself before buying.

Online advice/reviews can be quite contradictory, you just have to read this thread for that !!! so its hard to find your way sometimes if your not that familiar with a product/technology. I'm an IT consultant and pretty uptodate with technologies generally, I bought a new LCD TV earlier this year and it was a nightmare reading all the forums/reviews for the different brands/features to decide the best one available for my price range.
