Saw this under £50 and thought it would be a bargain for someone. Great reviews, can't expect a great deal of spec at this price point but this does look very good for occasional use. White version … Read More

good price for occasional use.

I paid £260 for a BenQ 720 dp which is great, but I only use it occasionally , projecting about 110 inches straight onto the wall.

judging by the image show it looks like a copy or based on one i got on ebay for about £40 which wasn't bad for playing around with. i also got a couple of projectors brand new for less than £15 on ebay but they weren't very bright or good quality obviously. if you don't need hdmi you can get some bargain second hand projectors on ebay, ex £400+ stuff for really cheap, with a good quality bright picture. 720p projectors seem to start around the £100 mark for the cheapest ones

I have this l, ok image but crap system and it's very very noisy. Would do a decent job for a summer night outdoor movie night but would not recommend for regular use

New to these devices - looking to show GoPro clips of swimmers to aid with their technique, what make/model "ex £400+ stuff" should I be on the lookout for on eBay?

just search for SVGA projector, sort by lowest price, see what results pop up and google for reviews. I got one projector for about £12 delivered which was ok and another for about £20 which was pretty good. at those prices I could take a gamble. they were brands like Panasonic and Samsung, household brands. you just connect to the pc with a VGA monitor cable, but a HMDI - VGA adapter worked (I think a fiver on ebay). they seem to be ex school or office stock

there seems to be a ton of cheaper projectors on Amazon at around the £40-60 mark.

Yes but the crenova sales person was the first person to buy an unused hukd account from hukd with a few deals in order to post inconspicuously.

You'd be much better off getting an ex corporate data projector than buying this cr*p.

I started off with a projector costing just £20, some old hp office model, now ten years later I have a £500 proper film hd projectorcos I got the bug big time.

If you can manage to get a 16:9 ratio one then do so, cos many office/data projectors are 4:3 ratio so you get loads of useless light overspill when watching a film.

Of course, should you have the budget to go a little higher an old 720p HD projector is way better than an office projector.

Limit your expectations if this is to be your first projector - its going to literally project an image and that's about it - I wouldn't expect it to handle motion well, have deep colours, handle high levels of ambient light, operate quietly etc - it would probably only be fine for a young child or someone with little expectation of quality if it's to be used for video.

Now, if you're prepared to pay £400+ for an entry level 'proper' projector then it has to to be the Benq W1070 which I cream in detail over on this thread and is now back to £449 new and worth every single penny :)
