neutral from me. i had a 720p optoma and was great. heard mixed things about cheap chinese projectors. would need to research more.

Thanks, although the reviews are putting me off - most of them look fake with very bad English.

Has anyone got one of these? Looking for a cheap solution for outdoor home projection (dusk to night viewing), the last Chinese one we got was great at night, but had to be almost dark to see anything.

I got one for my nephew a while back it is 3000 lumens and led bulb that should last at least 10 years I got it from eBay at the time and he uses it with his PS4 and has a Amazon fire stick plugged in, however you can get wifi enabled with android os on them now, for night viewing it's amazing but that is the same for most projectors but if I was to buy one again I would make sure the lumens was about 4500 minimum as it should be good for viewing in daylight or lowlight, & I would make sure it's got android is on it as it allows you to install kodi and mirror off your smart phones, look for led projectors on eBay or Amazon.

my optoma is fine during the day with curtains closed on economy mode. amazing on full presentation mode but I never use that to save bulb. i have the gtx 1080 now but was the 720. when i researched this there was one website that estimated the true lumens of the chinese ones. i don't remember exactly but they were all.out by a factor of even up to 10! i wouldn't play games on my optoma in the day but perfect for football or some netflix. yeah it rocks at night. maybe worth a punt if night time only..for daytime... any youtube videos?

Just find a make and model number of the ones you have interest in and there should be video reviews on YouTube, plenty of the Chinese makes on there and your right there are a lot of crap Chinese ones out there.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll look into the optomas too.

I may keep looking, in all honesty it's really just something fun that I was after to watch movies with the kids outside and improve on the cheap one we have, i imagine the tech will keep improving on these low end projectors, and light output may improve to be viable for viewing in semi-dark situations.

Some of these generic Chinese projectors are pretty decent.

The problem is they don't use the sophisticated optics that DLP and 3LCD Projectors use - its basically a 4-7" LCD low res panel with a bright light source behind it and couple of fresnel lenses. Its all open too so it wont take long for dust to contaminate the light path. You get what you pay for though, not voting cold but they're ideal for kids to play high contrast games and the like - not so good for movies and darker content due to low contrast ratio.

Would this suffice for delivering training courses using PowerPoint presentations?
