Here's the itinerary we've worked out using those cheap Croatia flights we found at the weekend -
The islands off the coast of Croatia are beautiful and this trip gives you the chance to have a little tour about, do a bit of exploring and see the best of Split and Dubrovnik whilst you're there.

Let us know what you think!
5th October, Fly into Split and pick up your hire care, staying for 2 nights at the Hotel Spalatus, a great little base and perfect location which Tripadvisor users have given 4.5 out of 5
October 7th, take the car ferry over to Hvar for a few days, a stunning island steeped in history, where medieval forts meet lush pine forests and white sandy beaches. Your base will be the beautiful Villa Rosmarinus which carries a stonking 92% approval rating over on Tripadvisor. We picked this place as it looks like a real treat, but you might want to book somewhere cheaper.
Cyclists might want to consider hiring some wheels and leaving the car at the hotel to go exploring Brac, a nearby island which is just a quick trip via Catamaran from Jelsa to Bol. Head up and discover Dragon Cave or just enjoy the stunning beach on Bol's fantastic coastline.
October 10th, head back over to Split for a night at Spalatus and drop off your hire car- Why not finish your day exploring the area off with Wine and Cheese @ Paradox?
October 11th, Take the passenger ferry over to Korcula, staying at the Pension Loveric, your base for 3 nights, a real treasure to explore. It's Greek heritage is visible everywhere you go, with olive groves, small villages and quiet coves.
October 14th, a quick hop over to Dubrovnik (you can take passenger ferry or bus) – this amazing city will blow you away with its stunning skyline, marble streets and shimmering coast. Your base for the night will be Hotel Komodor, a great little hotel with fantastic ocean views, before heading out and back to the UK on October 15th.

whats the weather like in October ?
#3
I went in July and it was between 26 and 30 degrees during the day so I don't imagine it would be that warm in October.

I have 8 days to fill following our 4 days booked in Dubrovnik. Can't decide if to island hop or stay on the mainland with a car (flying out of Zadar). Not sure it is worth taking car into the islands as waste the cost of the car? Looking for 2 bases for 4 nights each really as have young children and want holiday to be more chilled. Any recommendation grater recieved (gong in late August).

October should be dry warm, although not sunbathing weather, July August is the hottest times,
I.ve been late June and July and temps in the sun have touched 40-45,

Mattgrant is may be worth checking out kotor, budva in Montenegro so easy to get to from Dubrovnik, if going north what about orebic (on the mainland) sandy beaches and restaurants, 15-20 mins across the water by regular boat to korcula

The last time I flew into Dubrovnik we got a minibus direct to korcula then had a few days, then onto hvar early morning katamaran and then 3 nights there, then split and a £12 bus back to Dubrovnik

This year fly into split go over to Bol, then hvar, fly home from zadar so spending a night in sibenik to see the waterfalls at krka national park, then onto zadar,

Maybe worth checking out trogir just north of split
And plitvice lakes between zadar and zabreb,

This is my third trip in July, not found anything I haven't liked so far , a good value destination

Any deals in the last week in October?

Was in Dubrovnik for two weeks last October ( 2013 ) and weather was excellent, sunny every day. Temperatures were low to mid 20's during the day, dropping to mid teens at night. Cool breeze in the mornings, but always calmed down by midday. Highly recommend this Dubrovnik.

Never been abroad before, may think about it (if I can get the time off) got some money put away for a rainy day, voted hot. one more thing this isn't a deal just for a couple is it? It can just be one person? sounds dumb I know just thought I'd ask.

We did this a few years ago. It's really a beautiful country. If you're considering it, just go. You won't regret it.

Amniedude92: Do it. It's a great place to visit, although Slovenia, on the boarder is worth a visit too. Better value in my meagre experience.

From Zadar you can catch a ferry to Mali Losinj which is a picture perfect former Venetian port on the island of Losinj. Not far from the town is a very nice camping site (chalets also for rent) called Camp Poljana which has it's own beach, kids club etc. You should take the car to explore the island and also drive up to Cres.

It's a wonderful place.

Split is always overlooked but that city is fantastic. Hvar is cool but very pricey. October, yes you can swim if you are in you your teens...The sea is not that worm as in July or august. However, if you are English and used to swim in English sea then it's fine. It's worm enough....

You mean, am I the only one that bothered to answer his question and with a quote with the required info as well?
Yeah, I am. You're welcome.
