Crucial CT120M500SSD1 120GB M500 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch SSD. This is an older-model drive, but it still should be "fast enough" for normal day-to-day use and it scores superbly on reviews. Plus it's hard to beat the price!

Looking to buy an SSD to upgrade my SATA drive so any comments on deal would be appreciated.

Don't forget the priceles5 discount code is still active so price would be £41.84

Cheaper options with a little more storage capacity. Similar levels of performance I believe too. However, if you have a mastercard as above, then this drive is probably the cheapest ~120gb one available

Accidentally clicked cold when I saw the OPs display picture.

The M550 128gb was less than £40 delivered the other day on their own website, so cold from me as decent 120/128gb is now £40 or less.

I was considering this, the M550 (£60 approx) or the Samsung evo.
I went for the M550 in the end, only due to slightly better reviews for speed, but I would probably not be able to tell the difference between the 550 and the 500 in my laptop.
the M500 is a good choice.

Currently it's £57.59 on Crucial's website, so surely it's irrelevant what the price might have been "the other day" as we're not then, we're now!

Yes posted and got hot. It's not irrelevant if it shows in context with other SSD deals that a decent 120/128gb drive is coming regularly below £40 - they're a commodity item.

are they really regularly below £40???
search on here must not be working for me as I was looking last week and did not see any of the deals, and now I'm a bit annoyed at paying £60 (m550)!

The only one that I've seen under £40 has been the Kingston K300 which is one to avoid like the plague as it's slower than just about every other SSD ever.

Here are all the 120GB and 128GB SSD threads that have been posted in the last month (I used 'Advanced Search', limited the search to the last month of deals, and then searched for '120GB' with 'Search all Fields' and 'Deals as options, then repeated the exercise for '128GB')

First column is the "then" deal price, info in brackets at the end of each line is the current situation for that deal.

Someone people combine multiple deals into one thread, also the search functionality is not amazing (unless they've updated it).

any experts fancy adding some input to my question here? (asking in a dead thread not the best plan)

thanks for the effort of those that searched the deals.
I'm using the android app and couldn't see an advanced search (I'll look again).
so the m550 was below £40 once, which isn't regularly, so OK.
there have been other drives below £40, but that is not the same and difficult to compare unless you just want any SSD at the best price. some will, I won't.
:-)

Which drive would you recommend for best price/performance (out of the ones that are available)? The Kingston is on ebuyer also for £40.98.
