Faster RAM can be used with slower RAM...it'll just run at the slower rate.

The only thing to note is whether you need DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, as they are not compatible with eachother.

No it takes DDR2, this is DDR3

It wouldn't be the first time Play got their ram wrong....

Only problem I have had with Play is they sent out a set of 2 standard Desktop PC Sticks of RAM to me instead of Laptop RAM, after phoning and telling them, they then proceeded to send out exactly the same mistake, another phone call and third time lucky they got the correct items sent out to me.

I've just ordered 2gb of Kingson SODIMM from Play rather than the Crucial one - same price but more reassuring item description!

DDR2 is annoyingly pricy, I used this deal this week, good price and excellent service:
DDR2 SODIMM deal...
Direct from Crucial with -7% voucher and possible 7% Quidco too.

Due to the part number issue, can someone who has bought this memory please confirm if it is a 240 or 204 pin SODIMM when it arrives. I need more memory for my HP Compaq 311c but I'm a bit wary of buying memory from Play as I've done it before and although their description matched exactly what should have worked in my desktop computer, after fitting it kept freezing and giving BSODs so I had to return it for a refund.

Use the memory advisor on the Crucial website, it'll answer your question.
#31
No good as the RAM is listed incorrectly on play thus the results may be incorrect, initially though it does say its compatible.

It appears the Crucial Code on Play is for the 240pin Ram

I have checked the Crucial website again and the correct 2gb RAM for my compaq 311c is

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=9884E339A5CA7304

the crucial code is CT1120862

So I hate to say it - its not looking good - 240 and 204 can easily be mis-typed on Play - so I am starting to think
my order might be flying right back at Play when it arrives !!

I will keep you informed when it arrives !!

Think its should work in my toshiba c650-19t, am i right?

Be careful as this may be 240pin RAM as I have put in amended header
checked Crucial for you and its says yours takes 204pin
http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/compatible-memory-for/Toshiba/Satellite+C650-19T/list.html

I will post back when I recieve my RAM as to whether its 204 or 240pin - right now its not looking good !

204 pin is £17.99 for 204pin on Crucial No Delivery charge so £4 more than this deal - not bad !!!
