I posted this a week ago and decided to repost as not only is it back in stock but even cheaper than before. Again just a warning to anyone interested that your computers operating system must be able to use 6GB of ram and don't forget to use the free p+p option and 3% Quidco.

Looks a great price for 6gb of DDR3 1333Mhz

Good price, but unfortunately another £500+ to spend to upgrade to the new CPU+mobo technology & a 64-bit OS to use it to its full potential.

Of course, probably good for people who've already made the switch.

£500? Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R £170 + Ci7 920 £240 = £410

When buying memory without a heatsink I would highly reccomend getting these:

Only £1.60 each and free delivery!

I can't really imagine the average person needing 6gb of Ram but hey.

you can use a 64bit version of linux for free... when it comes to software, you can find free alternatives to most things if you are worried about cost.

and I would probably end up paying more for the mobo.... if its going to be £170+ anyway, you might as well get the UD5 which has a lot more features (6 ram slots vs 4, 10 sata ports vs 8, SLI vrs none, better expansion port layout, better mosfet cooling, clear cmos buttons, diagnostic LED, dual gigabit lan)....

guess thats all moot because i decided to go for a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P + X3 720.... its a lot lot cheaper, p

Try doing video editing and you'll soon see the need.

i have 4GB, & Vista x64 uses 1.7GB while idle/web & 2.8GB while gaming (GTA IV)

so as DrAllsopp mentioned, i guess you only need 6GB if doing something like video editing

Hot Deal - Great price for DDR3
my only negative would be that its by Crucial - have heard some bad things about their RAM lately.

I had 4GB on my Q6600 Quadcore Vista 64 Bit and upgraded to 6GB hoping that it would make a difference. No speed increase what so ever, although I use photoshop and play Unreal / Call of duty I haven't ever seen Windows use more than 3.5GB. Going from a 500GB Maxtor to a 500GB Samsung hardrive (both 16MB cache and SATA2) made a differnce.

DDR3 with 6gig ram will perform much better than DDR2 because instead of dual channel memory the new DDR3 memory works in triple channel making them all run faster and also the clock speed is faster.

video encoding should go much faster and also graphics rendering work but most games wont take advantage of the speed yet but in future they will

can i install 3x2GB sticks along side my 3x1GB sticks on my Studio XPS? it has 6 available slots

as long as the motherboard accepts ddr3 and is a 64 bit operating system otherwise 3.5 gig is maximum memory, also check limitations on your motherboard.

I currently have 9gb ram installed in my pc and need all of it !!! lol , seriously though i do have 9gb installed (3x2gb + 3 x 1gb ddr3 tri-channel) , it is certainly no slouch in my core i7 pc (bought from a deal posted on here btw!)
