Nice price, been this price here and there for a while. I wouldn't buy until next week mind until I'd seen the benchmarks for the Intel 330.

Intel make the most reliable SS drives, very closely followed by Samsung; but Crucial are 3rd place with the new firmware; there is a new Crucial Model due this year also; something to compete with the all beating OCZ Vertex 4.

The new Intel is an SF drive though so its specs will to all intents and purposes be a lie. :D

I'd go for the M4 for a good all all rounder with decent performance, reliability and a cheap price.

If you absolutely must have the best specs, I'd be more tempted by the Corsair Performance Pro which uses the same SSD controller as the M4 but has higher write speeds. Not as high as an SF but... well, you know... it can actually do them!

Note that after looking at the speed of your broadband and the speed of the fastest available blu-ray drive you'll realise that unless you're into video editing or network monitoring you likely don't need even half the M4's write speed which is why the m4 is still a decent choice sa the Corsair will cost more for a faster spec that isn't that useful.

Is that something you know or an assumption? I'm aware of Marvells new controller and IMFT's new NAND but I'm not aware of any new inbound drive.

    A science fiction drive? Cool!

Just installed my M4, what a total transformation. I'm hooked, death to mechanical drives X) If you're tempted by SSD... give in to it, you'll love it!

The intel will be significantly more expensive too.

...I've got the 128Gb and it is superb

Is IOPS an indication of better performance when the figure is larger or smaller?

Bought a second one last week so I could add to my first and make a Raid stripe - which granted won't be noticably quicker. But the extra 128Gb space is good.

    Voted hot.

P.S. Crucial in my opinion are excellent.

Had an issue with a drive that didn't work after I had done some open heart surgery on my PC, they warranted it back to me with no issues.

    LEGENDS.

is the purpose of a ssd, purely as a 'boot drive', then have other drives connected for say all your music, films, games etc?

I've been debating for a while for a ssd, but need to know more.

So effectively, you use it as a boot, install windows etc.

Then, when you install say Photoshop, you install to the SSD?

But all everything else to the other drives?
