Another SSD deal.

Good price for the Crucial m4 128GB, almost the lowest ever (which was 51p better, £72.96 at ebuyer / amazon almost 2 weeks ago).

There's an increasing tendency for SSD prices to drop down briefly then quickly shoot back up for a week or two, repeated seemingly ad infinitum, so I wouldn't imagine this price will last long.

You tend to pay a lot more per GB for the smaller sizes so they are not much cheaper than this one is (maybe £50-£60). In terms of longevity the newer designs are very good; I presume the one year life is referring to pre-TRIM incarnations and also the sandforce issues. Used properly and reasonably a typical modern SSD will last about 10 years, more than enough time for the technology to be redundant anyway. Crucial give a 3 year warranty with the m4.

you may have read about the dodgy bios from a couple of months back which after xxxx hours use (can't remember how many exactly) would stop working, new bios has fixed this and are easy to update. have 2 of these drives with 1 of them over 18 months old and running almost constantly. never had any problems.

Ordered one, £42 of credit with Amazon made it a rather inexpensive upgrade!

Just need to find some cheap 3.5" to 2.5" brackets now.

Nice price but I'm still hoping it will go down to £70 before it goes up again. It's speculated that price will rise in the future due to toshibas decision to reduce production of NAND. Also speculated that other manufacturers will follow toshiba.

I wouldn't worry, one screw is more than enough to secure them, they weigh virtually nothing :)

I personally prefer Samsung, but it really doesn't matter. both are excellent.

if it's going to be your laptop's single drive, I would recommend going for 256GB.
