  From what I can gather, the Marvell controller inside Crucial SSDs doesn't require the data being written to be compressable to attain high write speeds.
  
  When I was researching buying an SSD I got the impression that SandForce controllers compress data in hardware, thus minimizing the amount of data being written and giving the appearence of faster write speeds. Unfortunately non-compressable files (such as MP4s) still have to be written in their entirety, giving slower than advertised performance.
  
  I may have gotten the wrong end of the stick though, so please don't take this as gospel.

  anyone have any links relating to the next gen of crucial SSDs? Its my birthday on 2/5 and was going to treat myself but it sounds like i should wait for a few days to see if the next gen are worth it / the existing drives drop in price.
