Hot, shame they changed the case to such a horrible version. I got the steelbook version myself.

When will they learn?

Great price (despite the shocking packaging) HEAT from me ;)

Some cracking PC deals about today, BFBC2 £15, Crysis £5, OFP:DR £8 - really fantastic collection there for £28 notes

If it's both Crysis and the warhead expansion then that's an amazing price, if not then I'd get this first and see if you like it (and if your PC is up to the challenge).

'Cheap!', says the OP.

Yeah, but a computer that runs it isn't  Or maybe they are now, I don't keep up with these things. I just remember the specs being crazily high back when it came out. I'll be getting the sequel on the PS3, most probably.

Great deal though, I've never seen it that cheap before.
#11
Damn, according to Can You Run It my PC's processor is too slow to play this. It looks like a decent game as well.

Crazy high specs when it came out in 2007 yes but now the requirements aren't that high tbh.

Same price on ASDA entertainment for ages..

Got my copy 2 months ago at same price

Hot.

Also same price at thehut - it's been this price at thehut for ages, but until now it has been on a 1 month delivery. In stock there too now.

Ha, I find it amusing that the box make it look like some cheap-and-nasty game, but really it's still the torture test for graphics cards on the PC when websites benchmark.

Found this:

"Official Recommended System Requirements
OS – Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7
Processor – Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Memory – 2.0 GB RAM
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

The above "Official Recommended System Requirements" will not run the game on very high. To run the game at 30+ frames per second on very high the following is recommended.
OS - Windows Vista / Windows 7
Processor - A dual core processor 2.6 GHz or above
Memory - 3.0 GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 280 GTX or a Radeon HD 4870 X2"

Medium settings at 1280x1024 (or equivalent WS res) might be playable (and still look good),.

I ran that 'can you run it' test on mine for Crysis -

Muahahahaaaaa! (downside is it cost £1500 to build, lol).

My Dell Vostro got the same result, only got an HD4600 in it. That was the amazing £379 i7 deal a few months ago, graphics card was £50. i suspect your PC may have a more expensive GPU, lol.

also

i loved this game! :)

Ordered this a few days ago from TheHut - wouldn't worry too much about the delivery time as they despatched it in less than 2 days.

I got one of those i7 Dell Vostros too - £405 after cashback (is £379 without VAT?) and an HD 5750 1GB for less than £90, so Crysis will be fine.

I've had this running on a single core 3.0Ghz with an ATI x1650 & 1GB DDR400 ram, with all settings at minimum it was hitting 25 fps.

On my quad core 3.6Ghz - i5-750 OC'd, 8GB DDR3 1600, with GTX 470 sli (£600 worth of GPU) it still would only hit 50 - 60 fps on max details.

This game just doesn't scale well with multi CPU/GPU systems. Sli/crossfire gives an 80 - 90% boost for most games, for this it's 5 - 10%.

It's recommended you run this game on DX9 (Vista & Win 7 right click the game icon then choose DX9, XP it will automatically run as DX9), also turn shadows to minimum and do not under any circumstances turn on AA. It cripples this games performance.

Other than that, the game itself is fantastic and an absolute steal for a fiver.

Bought Warhead from Priceminister for £2.99 and played through it last weekend. The later stages crippled my system: i5 750 (oc: 3.3ghz), 4gb DDR3 1600, ATI 5850.
I played the 64-bit dx10 version at 1920x1080. All settings at Enthusiast, except shadows/sound/physics which I left at Gamer. A measly 2x AA.

Despite the claimed optimisations the original Crysis seems to run much better. Haven't benchmarked it since my mild overclock.

I was actually quite surprised what results I got out of the original Crysis on my laptop (1.66ghz Core Duo, ATI X1600, 2gb DDR 533). You can spend hours tweaking it :)

Mine arrived from zavvi today. They sent me the normal version instead of the classic.

Same here but from TheHut. Pretty pleased - normally I don't care about the case, but that yellow one is awful. Time to install and then probably spend ages fiddling with the graphics - I always like having v-sync on, so we'll see if that's workable or not.
#30
Wooo! Zavvi gave me the pretty cover too.

Got mine yesterday, and its the full retail version...

Very happy....:thumbsup::)
