Went to PCWorld today and purchased Crysis for the PC for £24.29. The shelf price is £34.99 however they do a price match plus a further 10% off if you find it cheaper.. seeming GAME are doing it for £26.99, they price matched it and gave me the full 10% off too..

Good bargain if you have a hefty machine to play it on.. otherwise you`ll need a very expensive upgrade!! :)

Why is everyone voting this cold? can it be bought cheaper somewhere else?
#4
not exactly £1000, i spent about £400 on a decent spec pc!! plays on it fine!
#5
warmed it up as it looks like a hot deal.

So is the 10% that PC world give off 10% off the difference, or 10% of the total?
#8
10% of the total!

It's NOT 10% of the total... If you got it then the person at the tills done it wrong and you got more off than you should. What it is, is that if you find it cheaper we will price match it then subtract 10% of the difference from the total.

If we sell something at £100 and you find it in Amazon for £90, then we take the £10 off (price match) then give you 10% of the difference (as in, £1)... So you would get it for £89 - not £81 (which it would be had it been an extra 10% of the total...)

Remember... it's 10% off the difference - not the total!

I had to play through the demo 4 times til I finally got the optimum balance between graphics and performance.

I can't believe how long I left the 'physics' setting on low, thinking it would be a prime candidate to wipe out my framerate. The two settings which I eventually determined as the worst offenders were using any antialiasing and shadows.

Setting physics on high had almost no detrimental effect on performance and vastly improved the game experience, I think I might actually buy it now :)

Setup:
Laptop
Core Duo 1.66ghz
2GB RAM
256mb ATI X1600 - dedicated (with latest modified ATI desktop drivers)

Can anyone confirm this plays flawlessly on Vista as the demo crashed quite frequently with the dreaded Nvidia driver problem (NVLDDMKM.SYS has stopped responding -10 months and they still haven't found a decent fix!)?

The only other games I have found that has this problem is Half life 2 and bizarrely Google Earth. COD4 and others run perfectly.

Talking rubbish. It's 10% of the lower price

Can we confirm this 10% because i was under the impression it was 10% of the difference not the cheaper price. Does anyone work there to tell us?

The demo worked fine on my system (Vista 64bit, 8600GT, E4300), although I got bored of it after five minutes. I had the NVLDDMKM.SYS not responding issue continuously with Timeshift though, before I updated that to the 169.04 set. There's a 169.09 set now which is billed as recommended for Crysis, so it's worth a shot. Clicky.

I don't think even the staff know. Certainly the T & Cs are vague. Yesterday I got an XBOX360 game pricematched and then had 10% of lower price deducted, when you read the T & Cs it could mean 10% of difference so basically argue the toss and pick the most beneficial :)
