Er....that's it. It's the best wildlife-destruction simulator I've played.

Plus you can kill people by throwing turtles at them. (actually it may be a tortoise).

Please note this game will not work properly on some Samsung + other DVD drives, I bought this game and then had to pirate it, I was not pleased. Good game though!

Yes, I've played through the whole thing on vista, not a single crash. Don't bother with the DirectX10 option though, it just halves your framerate, run it in DX9.

Just in the interest of balance, this game will work with 99%+ of drives, the same as any other game. I have a samsung drive and it works fine.

I prefer throwing chickens at them to kill them personally.

Do you choke the chicken first? Or do you just let him have the cock*, full in the face?

* by which I mean wildfowl, clearly.

Couldn't help noticing from the cover artwork that this is a German edition. Any problems with this?

The issue is with a lot more than 1% of drives, I did not mean to suggest it will not work on most samsung drives just most of the people who are unable to read this disc have a samsung drive, like me.

look: http://tiny.cc/SvmsN

Also if you have daemon tools installed and try to run this game even if you are not running it from an image you get an "emulation software detected". this can be difficult to get rid of even if you uninstall daemon tools.

Proof I am not making that up either

Technically, this disc is not a DVD. You will not find the DVD rom logo anywhere on it as does not work in some DVD-rom devices due to it's stupid short-sighted DRM. This is a great game with some terrible DRM that has turned many people away from buying games and just pirating them instead.

edit: ah this is the re-released EA classics version, this probably does not have the DRM actually. It also DOES have a DVD logo rather than just saying PCDVD like the original release that I have.

What is it then if you don't mind my asking?

I doubt they created a new type of hybrid optical media technology just for one title.

Worked fine when I had it. Vista x86. No crashes or anything.
#11
Works fine for me on Vista 64-bit, that includes having Daemon Tools on. I've still got to complete the bloody thing though. Do get the rare crash due to my g-card overheating (my fault as my cooling is crap, no fault of the game) in my poxy case.

It's probably just a generic image, I've bought games with german or french from Amazon and when I got them they were always the UK version.

Even if it is the euro version it will still default to english, and as it is an updated edition it should come with the latest patches too.

Devices with the official DVD logo on them have to work within specifications set by the DVD forum

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_Forum

Companies pay to be a part of the DVD forum and to use the logo on their products. Since EA created a DRM system that makes the DVD technically outside of spec and does not work in certain drives. This was an attempt to stop people using imaging software to make copies of their games.

Since it does not work in some DVD certified drives they cannot legally call it a DVD. It is pretty much a DVD but technically it is not.

That said my rant is not really relevant to this product as I have realised this is the "classic" release of the game not the original DRM laden one so this probably is a regular old DVD.

Good price, not buying it as i got it year and a half ago, and then it ran like poo on my system. NOw i have a better system and run it on full specs at 45fps. For some reason crysis still looks better than the suppsedly tweaked warhead.

That makes a lot more sense now, thanks.

I have seen the Crysis Maximum Edition for £19.95 elsewhere. Think it was on advert on google.

Ignore that just found it on another post on hotukdeals

Still quite a lot to pay for a tech demo.
