Crysis Warhead (pre-order) £14.99 + Quidco!

The next installment in the Crysis series on PC is Crysis Warhead, which is up for pre-order at Play for £14.99 (don't forget Quidco!).

The next cheapest I've seen is at Gameplay for £24.99, so it seems this is a bit of a bargain.

Great deal. First game was brilliant, let's hope this one can match up to it!
#2
Yeah, I thought so too. I've got it preordered & Quidco has already tracked the 30p cashback, so it basically costs just £14.69!

Not bad for my first deal on this site. :)
#3
This one will be a lot easier on lower spec PCs too, blessing in disguise for many.
#4
Is this a standalone version?

Edit: just checked and yes it is!

Good price.
#5
does this support 4 cores better?
#6
Im tempted not to download it like i did with the original Crysis and buy this seeing as it doesnt cost £35 like to original :)
#7
And a year later, more people have suitable hardware to play it on.
#8
Great price...can't wait for this :D

September - december is gonna hurt my wallet bad with all the pc/360 releases!

The fact that Cryteck have said they won't be supporting Crysis on the pc nor releasing the 3rd game in the series on the pc is a telling story when this only costs £15 lol

Yes its a good deal if other shops sell it for more than £15 but i fear as release date nears, more and more will drop their price to reflect a shabby unsupported game.

Not what I've heard. Apparently it's more of a resource hog than Crysis itself, particularly in regards to RAM

Ah Crysis.

I just found the whole game so boring. It was a tech demo made into a mediocre game.

Ive played better 2 generations ago.

I agree. I prefer games which play well rather than purely looking fancy.

I dunno, i really enjoyed the gameplay and story of Crysis, the eye candy was just a bonus :)
#16
A decent price but I got real bored with Crysis after a short while. Last game that gripped me was Bioshock. Looked and played great and the narrative sucked me in.
I bought Crysis just to see what my Geforce 9800GT could handle but I am starting to feel exactly as I did with Far Cry; looked nice but got real boring in no time!!

Good price though and voted hot!

Hmm, Crysis. I spent far more time making custom tweaks and running benchmarks than actually playing it!

I managed to get some beautiful results out of my laptop's lowly X1600.

Will this game play on my multi-cell motherboard Xeon Quad Core setup with 2x Intel Xeon E5450 LGA771 Harpertown 3.00GHz (1333fsb) 12mb-cache running at 3.4ghz water cooled, 3x sli EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1024MB SSC Edition GDDR3 OC'ed and 16gb OCZ of PC2-9200C5 1150MHz Flex II WaterCooled DDR2 ram and raid-0 2x OCZ Core V2 120GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid Sate HDD with Samsung SyncMaster XL30 LED BLU 30" LCD at 2560x1600 Res?

It will be barely playable @ medium settings @ 1280x1024 on that rig :p
#22
please no aliens on this one.killing humans is far more fun.
#23
I loved the first one, the devs have said the engine has been improved a lot so this one will run better on everyones computers.
#24
ahhhh i hate killing aliens which take some special method to destroy and all these fancy suits which can turn people invisible.

i much prefer COD4, well looking forward to the next one.

Really? Where? Crytek are not focusing on graphical improvements, instead they are focusing on performance. If you actually bothered to read up on it you would know that.
#26
Nice price, but its a pitty you have to spend £1000 on a PC to run the damn thing!:w00t:

preordered this a while back, loved the first one and im sure I will love this one too :)

is it the 1080p version with hdmi socket x15? If not then no it will not play this and will explode

The basic premise for Warhead is:

- More action, less stealth
- Made to run on many more systems at decent framerates (much more scaleable performance than before)
- Annoying character Psycho gets his own game, and gets to blow up s**t
- Takes place at the same time as Crysis (only on a different side of the Island)
- Standalone game
#31
Well I for one am really looking forward to Crysis Warhead!

I absolutely loved Far Cry on PC (completed it on Realistic - no easy task!), loved both Far Cry games on the original XBox, and loved the original Crysis. There's something about islands & forests which makes these games so much more refreshing & appealing to me than all those other endless corridor shooters.

I also love the nanosuit, so more of that is a good thing! Can't wait for this, I just hope the release date doesn't slip...

EDIT: Just looked at the official site (here) for the game & it has gone gold! It will apparently be shipping to stores on September 12th in Europe, so thats earlier than Play anticipated!

Also, Crysis Warhead includes Crysis Wars, which is a multiplayer package included with the game.
#32
I'll only buy this if the multiplayer is decent, if its not then hello torrents!
#33
How about buying a game for once instead of ripping everyone off?

If you want to run it at 1920x1200 8xfsaa and high detail etc, then yes.

This should run better than the original, which ran fine and looked great even on medium/low setting on my aging system. X2-3800, 1950XT, 2gig corsair etc.
I could probably build a better system for £400 now that would run this fine.
#35
does any1 know where i can get a bundle or Crysis + Crysis war??? Also where is the best price for grid???

Thanks
#36
Received my copy the other day...

Having an absolute blast playing it! Its even better than the original Crysis! It runs really smoothly (smoother than Crysis) on my system & the gameplay is great!

Be aware that this game apparently has a 'sting in its tail'.....not the game itself, but the licensing terms. An extract from one of the many 1-star reviews on Amazon:

Not sure if this is entirely true, so do your own research before making a decision.

Yes this is a great game, no doubting that. What you may not know and isn't disclose at all on the game description or packaging, is the inclusion of intrusive DRM/Securom that is used to enforce a 5 time activation limit.

What triggers an activation:

-Installing the game on a new computer
-Installing the game on a new operating system
-Playing the game under a different window user account than the account which was used to install the game
-Formatting your hard drive
-Upgrading your computer

The trigger is so sensitive and invasive, even attaching an external Hard Drive may trigger an activation.

Do not confuse activation with installation, you are free to install and uninstall all you want, providing you don't trigger and use all 5 activations....
In essence you are not paying for a full game, just a glorified rental!

It's an overreaction.... but it's understandable. EA really have ruined any chance of a PC-exclusive sequel with this - it's put off a lot of buyers (including me until yesterday - I cancelled a preorder to test the water first), and after the last Crysis, which had poorer sales than expected, if these are also down, then there won't be another one.
