so its got 8 processors but its called an X6, not a great start.

Lots of model names don't have anything to do with the phone itself e.g. Nokia Lumias, Xperias etc

so the LG 3d isnt 3d then?

Although Garbage seems to be a pretty accurate name in your case...

I said some, not all. The Lumia's and Xperia's aren't always named because of their specs e.g Xperia Z1/Z2, Xperia E1, Lumia 630, Lumia 520 etc.

and i say again, why call a phone x6, when its got 8 cores, a bit puzzling

Hot but could be scorching if it had more ram. No detailed specs on the link but I presume it does not support 4G like most budget Chinese phones. Still great value for a UK seller.

I assume it's 2G and 3G only, else they probably would have advertised it clearly to help sell it :)

HSPA+ which Three use is not far off 4G speeds anyway.

Just be aware that it doesn't support the 900MHz 3G band, which may mean some reduced 3G coverage ....

Definitely - S3 is outdated, has a poorer processor compared to the Cubot and this is slightly cheaper. Neither have 4G either, so it's an easy choice. I'd quickly do a little bit of research on Cubot though beforehand, just to double-check that their phones work as expected since they aren't a well known company :)

Why is the sony xperia z2 called the z2? Why is the nokia lumia 520 called the 520? Why's the samsung galaxy s5 called the s5?
Are you really making such a big deal out of the name of a phone? Does it really matter that much to you?

Can't seem to find the UK version. I'm assuming you'd have to work in dollars and your bank would change it into pounds?

Haven't voted either way , but I would never chose this over the S3 or the Moto G , reason being is this is one of them companies that are trying to catch up in a mobile phone world but will never actually make it, ie to shops, so I would stick with the big players

I'm dubious simply because I now need to replace the Inew v3 I bought in Jan for £130, loved the phone but the past 2 weeks it died a slow death so has to go back to China :(.
It scored just under the s3 on antutu test so I don't think s3 performance would be a problem. Samsung cameras are excellent and there's the 2 year warranty in its favour so I'm leaving towards s3..

The S3 will no doubt be discontinued soon though. If your willing to stick with Android 4.0 ICS, then go for it, but after a while, you'll find apps won't be compatible. Having said that though, the Cubot is only a couple of upgrades ahead, so I think either would be a good choice.

No idea what it is with all the personal insults coming my way, i was merely pointing out they have spent probably millions of pounds in research and building this phone which has an amazing amount of processors (8 of them) yet they call the phone the X6.

its a light hearted remark.

I'm just pointing out that some phone companies don't actually use the specs to name their phone. Also, being a small company, I personally doubt they would have spent so much money on research, and because most people aren't fussed about the name of the phone, they probably didn't put that much thought into that either.

Why would you say it has 8 processors when it has 8 processor cores? How confusing is that?!

Dual SIM too, I'd be very tempted it if was 4G.

Are the 8 cores active? I don't know much about it but maybe 2 cores are idle low clock cores for standby functions, also whats the battery life like on an 8 core android device? Still feel that a pc can handle a full blown os with 2 cores fine yet phones need 4 or more to be smooth a little crazy, good price tho

My current phone is dying. On paper this looks like it might be excellent value for money replacement, however I have one concern which I'm hoping someone on this forum can answer?

I currently have a bargain talk talk mobile contract SIM that piggy backs onto the Vodafone network. Does anyone know what lack of the 900MHz band will mean to me in real life? Will I have no 3G data indoors? Will I have no signal out in the countryside?

Is there anything else I should worry about?

Thanks in advance for your help.

google android is the issue here, coding is poor, needing pure power to make it "smooth" and thus fuelling their future sales of "faster" phones, for no other reason than if they code lazy, they can sell more phones as a specification is slightly better each month/year, then the lemmings keep buying..

Unlike Samsung's offering this can use all 8 cores at once. The down side is they are low power A7 cores. MTK's new one should be available soon featuring 4xA17 cores and 4xA7 cores along with PowerVR 6 series GPU.

The 900MHz band is mainly used as a secondary band to overlap where a single band struggles with network traffic. Although it is sometimes used independently.

Have a look on ofcom sightfinder for masts near you and what band they use. While its not being updated anymore its still probably 95% active.

Poor man's smartphone. Bought this from China and found that the reception was little or none most of the time where ever I went. Got fed up and sent it back after few weeks. Build quality / screen / audio etc are what you've paid for. I'd stick to trusted manufacturers with UK guarantee.

Although i'm an android fan and many years a user, I completely agree with you here.

Although it's nothing new - Software developers have been in bed with hardware manufacturers from the day of Windows and Intel
