This is the cheapest I've ever seen the boxset to date :)

"Seinfeld producer/creator Larry David has often claimed that the character of George Costanza, the abrasive, neurotic, spectacularly luckless Seinfeld supporting player so brilliantly played by Jason Alexander, was based on David himself. Small wonder, then, that most of the plotlines of the self-deprecating, reality-based sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm have a distinctly Costanzan flavour -- with Larry David, in the role of former stand-up comic-turned-TV executive Larry David, a dictionary definition of the phrase "his own worst enemy." A spinoff of the 1999 HBO "mockumentary" special of the same name, each 30-minute episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm is filmed in cinema verite fashion, with much of dialogue ad-libbed (though the premise of each episode has been carefully worked out in advance).
Watch hapless millionaire, Larry David in the hit U.S. comedy CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. As usual, Larry is joined by his faithful, beleaguered wife, Cheryl (Cheryl Hines), and his manager, Jeff (Jeff Garlin), while regular guests such as Ted Danson, Wanda Sykes, and Richard Lewis are on hand to add to the mayhem. This release contains every episode from Series 1 to 7."

Best U.S. comedy by a mile!!

Best comedy show ever, in my opinion, irrespective of country of origin.
At £5.71 a season, this is a stunning offer, as separately they usually go for £9 to £13.

I agree

Nothing worse than having a boxset of seasons 1-7 and a standalone season 8 on the shelf

Not good for my OCD!

This is such a rip-off of the Jack Dee sit-com, "Lead Balloon."

I've never seen Lead Balloon, but a quick glance at Wiki tells me that that show was created in 2005/06, when Curb was started a good few years before that.

I suspect you're being sarcastic, but if not, CYE came first.

It's currently being worked on with a view to being aired sometime next year, probably autumn. There's a behind the scenes of season 8 here, complete with minor spoilers I guess.

OK, i've always wanted to give this a try because i love Seinfeld so much. I should adore CYE, right? Is it better or worse than Seinfeld?

Better or worse than Seinfeld? Hard to say as its different. I gather its more improvised than scripted (and much to their amusement they won a "best comedy script" emmy for it) which can give it a "rough at the edges" feel but can also enhance the comedy. Also, Curb tends to have long running "backgorund stories" running through out a series which means you need to watch an entire season (there is more than one season where there's what appears to be a completely off the wall storyline bubbling away in the background for no appararent reason only to find its been there for weeks and weeks to set up a joke in the last few mins of the last episode!). Overall I'd say definitely give it a go.

N.b. the most recent series must surely be required viewing for any Seinfeld fan as its set around the premise of a Seinfeld reunion show ... along with the much repeated comment that they're doing that to make-up for the terrible final episode! (I was in the US when Seinfeld ended so saw it "live" and that last episode was a real disappointment)

It's hard to judge one better than the other, if you imagine a show just about George with loads of money and set in L.A. then you get pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty close. FYI I think it is better.

Curb is better, though I like them both

Never liked seinfield, CURB is soo much better, apparently Ricky Gervais features in the New season!
