Is this tinned? Just had two of Tescos 5p tins delivered but yet to try.

If it's like the Sainsbury one then it's not too bad. More a chinese chips in gravy type thing than a curry:thumbsup:

is this hot or just sort of curry flavoured? Wouldnt mind a few portions of chips & curry sauce :)
#12
Nice one I still have 6 jars of the sainburys one, too scared to try it! :prop:
#14
Ive had it and it isnt that bad at all. If you put some chicken with it and stick some mushrooms and onions in too its quite nice.

I've eaten a jar of that stuff, I presume it's the same as the asda stuff.

Unless I was really poor I'd give it a miss. It's good for dipping chips in, that's what I used mine for.
#16
It's nice, I think it's better than the Tesco one as that is very mild.

It tastes a bit like the curry sauce you get in chinese take-it-aways.

If you like it hotter you could always add some chilli powder, or whatever.

'Tikka' it from me, for the price it's a bargain!
#18
Cooking sauce? Geez some people are so lazy.
#19
So you can make it cheaper from scratch? :whistling:
#20
lol I saw this last week, didn't think of adding it as a hot deal :giggle:
#21
hotukdeals is plummeting to new lows - do you people really need to save 21p on curry sauce? The mind boggles...
#22
It's actually pretty damn good, no rubbish ingredients and a good base to start from. Add some more spices, a few more bits and pieces and it takes pretty nice :)
#23
chips and curry sauce all next week then. £3 for a weeks dinners, awesome ;)
#24
Ohh nice, I love the bite and texture of glass (if their balti sauce is anything to go by)....

'You people'?

Not everyone needs a sat nav deal, a bumper box of huggies, or a half price football top. But we all accept each deal as good for those who need it.

Everyone eats. Just because you choose to mock, doesn't mean this won't help people.

You aren't going to "curry" any favours by making comments like that!

Seriously, it's a bit pointless being a bargain hunter if you aren't going to track down bargains across the board. As Tesco are only too eager to say, "Every little helps".

In other words every small bargain like this adds up to a BIG saving.

We're actually going to be eating this tonight..! 6 p for the curry sauce, about £2 for some diced turkey, 20p for the rice...that works out £1.13 for a portion of curry and rice.

Add a few extras like snacks and poppadoms and it still works out less than £1.50 per person.

I like to equate things in cans 'o beer. It gives me a good idea of what a saving is actually "worth".

One curry per week and that's a saving of over a tenner per year! That's equivalent to 16 free cans of Carlsberg lager!!

Now, if someone had instead posted a deal to "16 free cans of lager" you'd presumably consider it a good deal, wouldn't you...?
#28
This is only 5P at sainsburys
#29
You can't beat good curry especially at this price!:)
#30
yes it's cheap but I can guarantee you guys it's neither healthy nor tasty than making from scratch... im a student but i always try to cook from scratch.. that's not hard as you think.... best advice is try googling for Gordon Ramsey's recipes... you will find lot of them could be cooked under 30mins..... I'm sure you can find 30mins in your busy day...
#31
As its unlikely any of you have 10 mouths to feed, or are living hand-to-mouth, I realise now this is a standards issue and I may have offended you... yes re-reading this listing, you are all indeed praising a shelf clearance offer that gives you a factory-made foodstuff for six pence.

Curry sauce. For 27p. Now 6p. Hell of a bargain you got yourselves there, pat on the back incoming!

harsh, moi? :)

mamboboy
1.1/2lb(675g) meat or poultry
1/2 cup vegetable oil 1 large onion, sliced long and thin
14 OZ (400g) tin tomatoes
2 tbl spoons of tomatoe puree
2 tbl fresh lemon or better lime juice
salt
knob of ghee

Spices 1

4 dry red cillies (more if you like the heat)
1 tsp black pepper (more if you like the heat)
1 tsp chilli powder(more if you like the heat)
1 tsp white cummin seeds
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp turmeric
2 white cardamoms

Spices 2
1 dessertspoon dry fenugreek leaves
1 dessertspoon garam masala

I think those ingredients would come to more than 9p... :whistling:

Anyways, not for me, but voted hot cuz this is perfect for students and the like :)

Jeez guys how could you even think of comparing home made food made from GENUINE ingredients with this **** labelled as food? You never asked yourself why is it so cheap? Because it's made from sh*t, and sh*t is cheap! :)

Sorry for the strong language...but for those who bring the excuse of students, how do you justify that they spend £1 on their daily SmartPrice meal and then fork out £20 for booze with their mates?

Personally I think this **** should be banned from this country. But perhaps, so do I :-D

Nice, will grab some on Sunday.

Anyone know if they're still doing cheap eggs or was that a 1 off on St. George's day?
#34

These have actually been 6p for roughly a year or even more. I've never seen them at any other price even after many visits over the past year.

The curry is OK, just tastes like you'd expect really but its not that bad at all. You can probably find 6p on the floor or lodged down the sofa so it's def worth it.
#38
6p! jeez how can they sell it that cheap?

LOL!

You "wouldn't buy it" yet you KNOW it's "rubbish"?? How do you figure that one out?

Guffaw!
