Might want to mention that this is a DSL router.

thank you. Added. It will be fine for fibre connected to a model though right? or do I need to make a trip back to currys:D ?

From what i could find it seems to be the ADSL version, not 100% sure.

You might be ok from what it says on the ASUS site but it seems they have different models with the same model number with letters added to the end.

Yep, it's ADSL according to Currys's info.

That £80 is misleading too, this is a superceeded 3 year old router and a bit slow by current standards, the Amazon listing is a typical old stock, silly price item.

I checked the Asus site and depending what it had after the "N55u" bit determined whether it was ADSL or Cable or Both.

Ah I was just in there and needed a router. Didn't even think of this fibre problem. Although I'm with plusnet and it was easy to setup using the Openreach modem. However oddly enough the windows laptop keeps getting a dns server error, whilst the macbook and android connect and work fine. Even weirder the windows laptop shows connected to the router but can't even pull up the router page, indicating something wrong with the laptop rather than the router.

I don't know if any of that is helpful.
